IAF's Surya Kiran Aerobatics Team performs Air Show over Jal Mahal in Jaipur

  • Nine Indian Air Force Hawk aircrafts performed incredible air displays in Jalmahal in Jaipur, Rajasthan. A large audience gathered on Amer Road to see the Indian Air Force's Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team conducting the air display. The unit was founded in 1996 and is part of the IAF's 52nd squadron. The squad consists of 13 pilots with each of them having an experience of over 2,000 flight hours.

Government Approves Defence Acquisition worth 45 Thousand crore

  • Government approved a slew of proposals to bolster India's defence sector. The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, approved a total of nine acquisition proposals totalling Rs. 45,000 crore.
  • Among them, the ministry okayed the proposal for the procurement of 12 Su-30MKIs for the Indian Air Force, which would be manufactured in India by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
  • The project would include manufacturing the aircraft and related ground systems. As per requirement, the Su-30MKIs will have to be equipped with more than 60 percent indigenous content.
  • The DAC also focused on enhancing the protection, mobility, attack capability, and survivability of mechanized forces. It approved proposals to procure Light Armoured Multipurpose Vehicles (LAMV) and Integrated Surveillance and Targeting System (ISAT-S). Additionally, High Mobility Vehicle (HMV) Gun Towing Vehicles will be acquired to facilitate swift mobilization and deployment of artillery guns and radars. These acquisitions will bolster India's mechanized forces and increase their readiness.
  • Furthermore, The Indian Navy will receive a substantial upgrade with the approval of the procurement of Next Generation Survey Vessels. These vessels will significantly enhance the Navy's capabilities in performing hydrographic operations, strengthening its maritime presence and security.

BAE Systems, L&T Join Hands

  • A global company and an Indian firm joined hands to bring the world-leading Articulated All-Terrain Vehicle (AATV), the 'BvS10', to the Indian defence market. BAE Systems and Larsen & Toubro teamed up to bring the AATV to the country under the 'Make in India' programme.
  • The two companies have signed an agreement to offer the BvS10 for an Indian armed forces programme.
  • Under the agreement, L&T is the prime bidder for the Indian market, with the support of BAE Systems Hagglunds, the Swedish manufacturer of the highly successful BvS10 family of vehicles.

Naval Group India Opens a New Workshop in Karwar to Help Indian Navy Submarines

  • Naval Group India started working at its brand-new workshop in Karwar, Karnataka and their main job is to support the Indian Navy's Kalvari class submarines. This is a big deal because Naval Group India is the first company that designs equipment that goes onboard the submarines to set up a workshop like this in Karwar. This workshop is part of the Indian government's plan called INS Kadamba, also known as Project SeaBird.
  • This workshop houses necessary tools and trained Indian engineers to provide time-bound services together with the support from our qualified partners – Indian Small and Medium enterprises (MSMEs).
