Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja Set New Record

  • In the third ODI against Australia Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja added 150 runs together in just 108 balls as they broke a 21-year-old record for the highest 6th-wicket partnership against Australia in ODI cricket. They went past the tally of 123 set up by Robin Singh and Sadagopan Ramesh in 1999 against the Australians in Colombo in 1999.
  • This is also the third-highest 6th-wicket partnership for India in ODI cricket. Ambati Rayudu and Stuart Binny hold the record with a 160-run stand against Zimbabwe in Harare in 2015. Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni are second on the list with 158-run stand against Zimbabwe in Harare in 2005.

Virat Kohli Breaks Sachin Tendulkar's Record

  • Virat Kohli became the fastest to reach 12,000 runs in One-day International cricket. Kohli breached the mark in the third ODI against Australia in Canberra. He had 11,977 runs before this game and got to the landmark soon after arriving at the crease. Kohli got to the milestone in his 242nd inning, thus bettering the previous record set by Sachin Tendulkar, who got his 12000th run in his 300th inning.
  • Kohli is the second-highest scorer for India in ODIs behind Tendulkar's 18,426 from 463 ODIs. The India captain also holds the record for the fastest batsman (in terms of innings) to 10,000 and 11,000 runs in ODIs.

Babar Azam New Captain for All Three Formats PCB

  • The Pakistan Cricket Board has made it clear that Babar Azam has been appointed captain for all three formats on a long-term basis.
  • According to PCB CEO Wasim Khan, Babar is their best batsman, young and mentally very strong and he himself wanted to take on the responsibility for all three formats.

Chahal Concedes Most Runs by Indian Spinner in an ODI Match

  • Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has registered an unwarranted record to his name as he became the Indian spinner to concede most runs in an ODI.
  • In the first ODI of the three-match series against Australia, Chahal returned with figures of 1/89 from his 10 overs at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
  • Before Chahal, the record was held by leg-spinner Piyush Chawla who had conceded 85 runs in his 10 overs in an ODI against Pakistan in 2008.
  • Right-arm medium fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar holds the record for conceding most runs by an Indian bowler in ODIs. In 2015, Kumar had conceded 105 runs against South Africa in Mumbai.

Aaron Finch Becomes 2nd Fastest Australian to Score 5,000 ODI Runs

  • Aaron Finch became the second fastest Australian batsman to score 5,000 runs in One-Day Internationals (ODIs). He achieved the feat during the first ODI of the three-match series at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
  • The right-handed batsman has taken 126 ODI innings to reach the milestone while his opening partner David Warner, who sits at the top of the chart, took 115 innings.
  • South Africa's Hashim Amla is the quickest to reach the 5,000-run landmark in ODIs, having taken 101 innings.

Greg Barclay New Chairman of ICC

  • New Zealand's Greg Barclay has been appointed as the new independent Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
  • As per the official statement, Barclay will be replacing Shashank Manohar who had stepped down from the post earlier in 2020.
  • Greg Barclay is an Auckland-based commercial lawyer. Since 2012, he has been a director of New Zealand Cricket (NZC) and currently is the representative of NZC on the board of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Barclay will step down from his position at NZC to lead the ICC in an independent capacity.
