Olympic Shot Put Champion Ryan Crouser Sets World Record

Olympic shot put champion Ryan Crouser of the United States set a world indoor record of 22.82 metres at the American Track League series opener in Fayetteville, AR.
Crouser, who won the gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics, on his opening attempt, bettered the 32-year-old mark of 22.66m set by American Randy Barnes in 1989. The 28-year-old also bettered the old world record on his third attempt with an effort of 22.70m.
Crouser finished off the meet with a throw of 22.48m, his third-best of the day, but still a mark that only two other men have ever bettered indoors.

ITBP wins IHAI National Ice Hockey Championship

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has won the Ice Hockey Association of India (IHAI) 10th National Ice Hockey Championship trophy after a win over Ladakh in the finals in Gulmarg. The match was held at Gulmarg Ice Rink. Ladakh has been considered as the capital of ice hockey in India where local men and women play this game with great enthusiasm.
The championship was held at an altitude of 8,694-feet and temperatures below freezing point. The Top eight teams of ice hockey in India participated in the event. Top teams of Ice Hockey in India participated in the Championship organized from January 16 to 22, 2021.

Sindhu and Sameer Ease into Thailand Open Quarterfinals

Indian shuttler Sameer Verma continued his stellar run at the Thailand Open as he eased past Denmark's Rasmus Gemke in straight games to enter the quarter finals of the men's singles event. Verma defeated Gemke 21-12, 21-9 in the second-round contest of the Super 1000 tournament that lasted for almost 40 minutes.
Verma led the match from the start and took the opening game in less than 20 minutes. Having beaten the eighth seed Lee Zii Jia of Malaysia in the opening round, the world number 31 took his game a notch higher as he won the second game 21-9 to march into the last eight.
P.V. Sindhu also cruised to the quarter finals of the Thailand Open after a victory over Malaysia's Kisona Selvaduray. The Olympic silver medallist outclassed Kisona in the second-round clash to register an easy 21-10, 21-12 win in an encounter that lasted less than an hour.

Liverpool's 68-match Unbeaten EPL Home Run Ended by Burnley

Liverpool's 68-match unbeaten streak at Anfield in the Premier League ended with a 1-0 loss to Burnley in the latest setback of a fading title defence.
Ashley Barnes scored from the penalty spot in the 83rd minute after the forward was brought down by goalkeeper Alisson Becker as Burnley became the first team to win in the league at Anfield since April 2017.
It was Burnley's first win at Liverpool since 1974, and it leaves Jürgen Klopp's side six points behind leader Manchester United halfway through its title defence, having not scored in four successive games.

Cristiano Ronaldo Becomes Top Goal-scorer in Football History

Portugal and Juventus' goal-scoring Phenom Cristiano Ronaldo surpassed Josef Bican for the most goals scored for club and country in football history -- with his tally now at 760. The Juventus striker continued to defy his age since arriving from Real Madrid for around £100 million in 2018 — and his strike against Napoli in the Italian Super Cup on Wednesday has now moved him top of the all-time scoring charts.
Juventus won the Italian Super Cup title after securing a 2-0 win over Napoli. It was the club's ninth Italian Super Cup title and Andrea Pirlo's first trophy as a manager.

JSW Sports Signs Rishabh Pant, to Manage Commercial Interests, Marketing Rights

Star India wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant has entered into a multi-year contract with JSW Sports, which will look after the cricketer's commercial and marketing rights. JSW Sports, the sports arm of the USD 13 billion JSW Group conglomerate, announced Pant's addition to its growing list of talents.
Pant was earlier managed by Cornerstone Sport and Entertainment Pvt Ltd. The multi-year association will see JSW Sports manage all commercial interests and marketing rights of the 23-year-old cricketer.
As part of the association, JSW Sports will manage his image positioning and all his commercial engagements, including brand endorsements and appearances, social media monetisation and business deals.
