IPL's Most Expensive player Chris Morris Announces Retirement
South African all-rounder Chris Morris brought the curtains down on his cricketing career, announcing he was retiring from all forms of cricket.
Morris, who was hampered by fitness issues later in his career, would next be seen in a coaching role with South African domestic side Titans.
Morris made his international debut in December 2012 against New Zealand and played his first ODI in 2013. The all-rounder's first match in Test cricket came in when England toured South Africa in 2016.
Morris played four Tests, 42 One-day Internationals and 23 T20 Internationals besides donning the Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore jerseys in the IPL.
He last represented South Africa in the ODI World Cup in England in 2019. He was the costliest buy at the IPL auction, being bought for Rs. 16.25 crores by Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2021 auction.
Tata Group to Replace Vivo as IPL Title Sponsor from this Year
One of India's largest business conglomerates, the Tata Group, will replace Chinese mobile manufacturer Vivo as the Indian Premier League's title sponsor for the next two years.
As per reports, the Tatas will be paying around Rs. 670 crore for two years of title sponsorship while Vivo will pay a total of Rs. 454 crore for termination of contract, which makes it a win-win situation for the BCCI as it is set to earn a whopping Rs. 1,124 crore for seasons 2022 and 2023 respectively.
Vivo had a deal of Rs. 2200 crore for title sponsorship rights initially from 2018-2022 but after the 2020 Galwan Valley military face-off between the Indian and Chinese Army soldiers, the brand took a break for a year in view of a public backlash and Dream11 replaced it in the IPL.

Trent Boult Becomes 4th NZ Bowler to Register 300 Test Wickets
New Zealand pacer Trent Boult reached the milestone of 300 Test wickets. The left-arm seamer achieved the feat on Day 2 of the second Test against Bangladesh at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.
Boult is the fourth Black Caps cricketer to achieve the milestone of 300 Test wickets and he brought up the landmark in his 75th Test. Earlier, Sir Richard Hadlee, Daniel Vettori, and Tim Southee had registered 300 Test wickets.

Rohan Bopanna, Ramkumar Ramanathan Win Adelaide International Crown
Rohan Bopanna and Ramkumar Ramanathan began 2022 on a high, winning the Adelaide International ATP 250 men's doubles title. Teaming up for the first time on the ATP tour, the Indian due won the title with a hard-fought 7-6 (6), 6-1 win over the top-seeded pairing of Ivan Dodig and Marcelo Melo in Adelaide.
It was Rohan Bopanna's 20the ATP title while Ramkumar won his maiden title on the tour as the two Indian players warmed up to the Australian Open 2022 with a big win.
Fourteen-year old Bharath Subramaniyam became India's 73rd chess Grandmaster, securing the third and final GM norm at an event in Italy.
The Chennai-based player scored 6.5 points from nine rounds along with four others to finish seventh overall in the event held at Cattolica.
He obtained his third GM norm and also touched the requisite 2,500 (Elo) mark.
Bharath achieved his first GM norm after securing 11th place at the Aeroflot Open in Moscow in February 2020. He secured the second norm after placing 4th in the Junior Roundtable Under 21 tournament in Bulgaria with 6.5 points in October 2021.

ICC Comes up with Massive penalty for Slow Over-rate in T20
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that slow overrate in T20 Internationals will result in a fielder less outside of the 30-yard circle for the remaining overs of the innings, starting this month.
The governing body also introduced an optional drinks interval midway through the innings in bilateral T20 international cricket as part of its updated playing conditions. The in-match penalties are in addition to the sanctions for slow over rate outlined in Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.

Fantasy sports platform My11Circle signed up with RP-Sanjiv Goenka group's Lucknow franchise as the official title sponsor of the team for the upcoming season of Indian Premier League.
The three-year deal will see My11Circle logo featuring on the Lucknow team jersey.
Lucknow franchise is one of the new teams apart from Ahmedabad side in the upcoming season of IPL.
