Assam Government to Launch Its Own Satellite 'ASSAMSAT'
In a landmark move, the Assam state government has announced plans to launch its own satellite, ASSAMSAT, to bolster data access for crucial socio-economic initiatives and enhance border security. This announcement was made by Assam Finance Minister Ajanta Neog while presenting the state budget for the financial year 2025-26. The satellite is envisioned to provide dedicated services for agriculture, disaster management, infrastructure development, and security operations. This initiative marks a historic milestone, as Assam becomes the first Indian state to launch its own satellite.
The ASSAMSAT satellite will be developed in collaboration with IN-SPACe (Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Center) and ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation). The initiative is part of the BJP-led coalition government's vision to strengthen technological capabilities and enhance governance through satellite-based surveillance and monitoring systems.

India Leads in GenAI Adoption with 1.3 Million Enrollments, but Women Lag at 29.6%
India emerged as a global leader in Generative AI (GenAI) adoption, recording 1.3 million AI enrollments in 2024 — the highest of any country worldwide. However, a new report by Coursera (an online learning platform) 'Closing the Gender Gap in GenAI Skills' playbook revealed that women remain significantly underrepresented in this fast-growing field. While India ranked second globally in GenAI enrollments among women learners, they accounted for just 29.6 per cent of total GenAI enrollments in the country, despite making up 40 per cent of all learners on the platform. Globally, women hold a slightly higher share, at 32 per cent of total GenAI enrollments.
Coursera's Closing the Gender Gap in GenAI Skills playbook explores strategies to bridge this disparity and empower more women to participate in AI's transformative growth. The report highlighted a critical need for targeted interventions to ensure equitable access to AI opportunities, as well as to encourage more women to take leadership roles in the field.

Nokia Collaborates with NASA to Deploy World's First 4G Network on the Moon
Nokia become the first company to deploy a 4G network on the moon. This 4G LTE network was used for NASA's "Intuitive Machines'" IM-2 mission. This is the first time that the same mobile communication technology as that on Earth was deployed on the moon, promoting the establishment of humanity's sustainable lunar presence capabilities.
This breakthrough not only enhances the communication capabilities of future space missions but also lays the foundation for interstellar communication, ensuring the stability of data transmission.
