ISRO Chief K. Sivan Inaugurates Health QUEST Study

ISRO chief, K. Sivan has formally inaugurated the Health QUEST study (Health Quality Upgradation Enabled by Space Technology of ISRO) which will be undertaken by 20 private hospitals across India. The event was co-organised by the Association of Health Care Providers India (AHPI) and the Society for Emergency Medicine in India (SEMI).
The objective of the study is to strive towards reducing human errors and achieve zero defect and quality service in the emergency and intensive care units of the hospital. The study aims to upgrade healthcare standards in line with ISRO quality standards and best practices. The quality assurance mechanism in vogue in ISRO will be shared with the study team to establish the parameters for healthcare quality standards.

Delhi Govt. Signs MoU with IB Board for Delhi Board of School Education

Delhi Government signed an MoU with International Baccalaureate (IB) Board. IB will be associated with the upcoming Delhi Board of School Education.
The International Baccalaureate board is a private international education board with a foundation office located in Geneva. Around 5,000 schools globally are affiliated with the IB board. Currently, 193 schools in India are affiliated with the IB board, all of which are private schools.

IIT Roorkee Professors Feature in 50 Inspirational Women in STEM Education by CII

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, celebrated its women professors, who have contributed phenomenally with their research in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) subjects. Their active participation in the field has proven exemplary in promoting and transforming women's role in STEM subjects. It is a matter of great pride for the institution that four of its professors have been featured in the compendium by the Confederation of Indian Industry - CII on women achievers from India in STEM.
The CII launched an e-book, 'WiSTEM-2021: Nurture and Celebrate Women in STEM'. CII Tamil Nadu and Technology Development and Promotion Centre released a compendium of 50 women achievers in STEM education. All the women featured in the publication are warriors in their own right, for they have carved a niche career path for themselves, defying all the existing social barriers. The compilation of illustrious women aims to inspire future generations pushing them to follow their hearts and take that leap to explore the unknown aspects of STEM courses.

Indian Institute of Heritage to be Set up in Uttar Pradesh

The Ministry of Culture has decided to set up the 'Indian Institute of Heritage' at Noida in Gautam Buddha Nagar.
This will impact higher education and research in the fields related to rich Indian heritage and its conservation.
Indian Institute of Heritage would offer Masters and Ph.D courses in History of Arts, Conservation, Museology, Archival Studies, Archaeology, Preventives Conservation, Epigraphy and Numismatics, Manuscriptology etc. as well as conservation training facilities to in-service employees and the students of the Indian Institute of Heritage.
The Institute is being set up as Deemed to be University by integrating Institute of Archaeology (Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya Institute of Archaeology), School of Archival Studies under National Archives of India, New Delhi, the National Research Laboratory for Conservation of Cultural Property (NRLC), Lucknow, National Museum Institute of History of Art, Conservation and Museology (NMICHM) and Academic Wing of Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi.

Delhi University Considering Naming its Upcoming College after Sushma Swaraj

As per reports, the Delhi University is considering to name its upcoming college at Fatehpur Beri after the first woman Chief Minister of Delhi Sushma Swaraj. The name of the college will be finalised by the academic council and the executive council of the university.
A couple of other names have also been proposed along with Swaraj. The names of Swami Vivekananda and Veer Savarkar are also under consideration.

Karnataka First State to Issue Order to Implement NEP

The Government of Karnataka has issued an order, with regard to the implementation of National Education Policy-2020 with effect from the current academic year 2021-2022, Dr. C. N. Ashwatha Narayana, the Minister of Higher Education, stated after convening a meeting with officials of the department and state higher education council., On this day he was assigned the portfolio for the second time by the New Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai.
With this Karnataka has become the first state in the nation to issue the order with regard to the implementation of NEP-2020.

India's First Heart Failure Biobank Starts in Kerala

The first Heart Failure Biobank in the country has come up at the National Centre for Advanced Research and Excellence in HF (CARE-HF) at the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Kerala. The Biobank is open to study genetic, metabolomics and proteomic markers of health outcomes in heart-failure patients.
Biobanks are an important resource of collections of high-quality biological human samples that can be used to understand molecular pathways and to improve the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of heart failure.
The biospecimens include blood, serum and tissue samples obtained during open-heart surgery and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and genomic DNA collected from heart-failure patients.

Dr. K Sivan, Secretary, DOS/Chairman, ISRO formally inaugurated the Health QUEST study (Health Quality Upgradation Enabled by Space Technology of ISRO) which will be undertaken by 20 private hospitals across India. Dr Devi Prasad Shetty, Chairman, Narayana Health was the guest of honour and spoke on the occasion. The objective of the study is to strive towards reducing human errors and achieve zero defect and quality service in the Emergency and Intensive Care units of hospitals. The study aims to upgrade the healthcare systems standards of the country in line with the ISRO quality standards and best practices. The procedures and practices of Quality Assurance mechanism in vogue in ISRO will be shared with the study team for setting the parameters to establish health care quality standards.
During his inaugural address Dr. Sivan assured the support from ISRO for completing the study and achieving the quality goal. The event was co-organised by Association of Health Care Providers India (AHPI) and Society for Emergency Medicine in India (SEMI). The CEOs and Coordinators of the 20 hospitals have participated in the virtual event.
