Education Minister Inaugurates Centres for Nano Technology, Indian Knowledge System at IIT Guwahati

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the state-of-the-art Centre for Nanotechnology and Centre for Indian Knowledge System at IIT Guwahati. He also released a book on NEP 2020 implementation. IIT Guwahati has achieved excellent rankings in the various national and international ranking systems.
The Centre for Nanotechnology will work towards meeting future challenges and augmenting academic partnerships with industry in Nanotechnology.
The Centre for Indian Knowledge System (CIKS) will focus on preserving, documenting and sustaining the knowledge that is unique to India, such as Indian classical music, Yoga, Sanskrit, traditional medicines, temple architecture, ceramic tradition and special agricultural practices of North-East India, among other things.
The funding for the Centre came from the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

IIT Delhi Awards Neilom Prize

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi awarded the Neilom Prize for the year 2020-21 to graduates for contributing to the space of assistive technology to empower people with disabilities. The award was jointly presented to Richa Gupta and Girish Yadav.
The award, which carries a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh, is given every year to the best outgoing student(s) of IIT Delhi for their contribution to the area of assistive technology.

Tribal Affairs Ministry, CBSE Jointly Launch Online Certificate Course on Experiential Learning f...

Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE jointly launched an online certificate course on Experiential Learning for the 21st Century for Eklavya Model Residential School and CBSE teachers. It was jointly launched by Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Anil Kumar Jha and CBSE Chairman Manoj Ahuja.
The certificate course is for capacity building of educators to achieve the aims of National Education Policy, 2020. The Experiential Learning for 21st Century Programme has been conceptualized as an online certificate course for educators - teachers, school heads and principals to help them adapt classroom learning to real life experiences.

NDMC Ties up with Toppr to Educate Underprivileged Students

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) tied up with ed-tech company Toppr to educate underprivileged students through its flagship corporate social responsibility programme Asha.
Toppr Asha aims to systematically improve the performance of high school students from underserved and low-income families through the Toppr learning app. Asha will provide access to its learning programs to around 12,500 underprivileged students studying in classes 6 to 12 in collaboration with Bharat EdTech Initiative.
Toppr will offer support to students for the board exams and competitive exam preparation using the best of technology and pedagogy.

IIT-Delhi, IIIT-Delhi Collaborate to Set-up India's First Medical Cobotics Centre

The Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) of Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) and TIH of Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIITD), signed an MoU to set up India's first Medical Cobotics Centre (MCC) at IIIT-Delhi.
Medical Cobotics Centre (MCC) will be a technology-enabled medical simulation and training facility for the young resident doctors. It will also act as a validation centre for the research outcomes in the area of healthcare robotics and digital health. The centre would facilitate the training of other healthcare professionals, paramedical staff, technicians, engineers, and researchers.
The training programmes will be designed in consultation with leading doctors/experts, mainly from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at New Delhi, Jodhpur, and other prestigious medical colleges.

Dr. Vivek Gaur Elected Kurukshetra University Teachers' Body President

Dr. Vivek Gaur was elected the new president of the Kurukshetra University Teachers' Association (KUTA). Dr. Gaur got 193 votes compared to his opponent Dr. Dalip Kumar's 96 votes.
There were 343 eligible teachers for voting, of which 307 participated. Of the total votes, while four votes were found invalid, 14 postal votes were not opened due to a big margin of votes between the candidates.
While the new president was elected, the other four office-bearers were elected unanimously earlier. Dr. Rajvir Singh became vice-president, Dr. Jatinder Kumar secretary, Dr. Sandeep Gupta joint secretary and Dr. Chander Kant treasurer.

In a First, CLAT to be Conducted Twice in a Year

The Consortium of National Law University (CNLU) announced the dates to conduct the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2022-23. For the first time, CNLU will conduct the CLAT for the years 2022 and 2023 in the same year. This is the first time that CLAT will be conducted twice in the same year.
CLAT 2022 will be held on May 8 while CLAT-2023 will be held on December 18, 2022. The consortium has also reduced the counselling fees from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 30,000. For reserved category candidates, the counselling fees will be Rs. 20,000.
