Gujarat Hosts the National Education Ministers' Conference

  • Gujarat hosted the two-day National Education Ministers' Conference. The meeting was attended by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, as well as other Union Ministers and state and union territory Education Ministers. Deliberations on how to boost the country's education ecosystem took place during this conference. It concentrated on the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020, school skilling, and digital projects such as the National Digital Education Architecture and the National Educational Technology Forum, among others.
  • The state education ministers also paid visits to Vidya Samiksha Kendra, BISAG (Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geoinformatics), NFSU (National Forensic Science University), and the International Automobile Centre of Excellence.

IIT Roorkee Joins Hand with Deloitte on Capacity Building Programme to Achieve High Level of AI P...

  • Celebrating the 175th year of its foundation, Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee), announced a strategic collaboration with Deloitte, a leader in AI, to deliver rigorous, immersive programmes in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) that are designed to build's the next generation workforce.
  • This partnership aims to revolutionise the industry-academia relationship and that will help in bridging the talent gap and nurture future leaders with a high level of AI proficiency. Under this partnership, Deloitte will offer fellowships and a work-study programme for IIT Roorkee students to work on AI and Advanced Analytics.
  • IIT Roorkee's collaboration with Deloitte is in sync with the Digital India mission of the Government of India, which aims at boosting the AI-enabled technologies in every sector including governance, banking, education and health, etc.

Shruti Sharma Tops UPSC, Women Get First 3 Spots

  • The top three positions for civil services examination, 2021, were bagged by women, with Shruti Sharma, a student of history, securing the first rank. Ankita Agarwal and Gamini Singla have taken the second and third rank, respectively. Aishwarya Verma secured the fourth position and Utkarsh Dwivedi achieved the fifth rank. A total of 685 candidates (508 men and 177 women) have qualified and have been recommended for appointment to various central services.
  • Sharma, who graduated in history (hons) from the University of Delhi, topped the examination with history as her optional subject.
  • The top 25 candidates comprise 15 men and 10 women. It is after six years that women have bagged the top three slots. In 2015, the top four positions were achieved by women. All the three women achievers said they would like to work for women empowerment and other important areas such as education and healthcare.

National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) Launches Portal to Simplify Process of Recognition ...

  • National Council for Teacher Education launched an online portal to streamline the process of recognition of teacher education programs of Higher Education Institutions and Teacher Education Institutions. This portal will bring in a paradigm shift in the functioning of National Council for Teacher Education.
  • The portal aims to provide an automated robust framework thereby enhancing accountability, transparency and ease of doing business. The applications for the recently launched four year Integrated Teacher Education Programmes applications will be processed on this portal.

Government Preparing Exhaustive Database of Healthcare Workers

  • To project India as a global source in the health sector, the Centre is developing an online repository of all categories of healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses and pharmacists that also mentions the country where they wish to render their services. The portal, being developed by the National Health Authority (NHA) under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) as part of the government's 'Heal by India' initiative, is likely to be launched on August 15. It will be voluntary for all healthcare professionals to provide their information to the portal and all steps are being taken to ensure data security. The personal information provided will be authenticated by UIDAI while registration details will be verified by the respective councils.
  • The healthcare professionals who can register themselves in the portal include practitioners of modern medicine as well as the traditional system of medicine, dentists, nurses, pharmacists and 56 categories of allied health professionals.

NHA Launches Revamp Ayushman Bharat Health Account Mobile App

  • The National Health Authority (NHA) under its flagship scheme of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) announced the launch of a revamped Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) mobile application. The ABHA app, previously known as National Digital Health Mission' Health Records app is available for download from the Google Play Store and already has over 4 lakh downloads. The updated version of the ABHA app has a new User Interface (UI) and added functionalities that enable individuals to access their health records anytime and anywhere.
  • In addition to this, ABHA mobile application has new functionalities such as edit profile, link and unlink ABHA number (14 digit) with ABHA address. Other functionalities such as Login via face authentication/ fingerprint/ biometric and the ability to scan QR codes at the counter of the ABDM compliant facility for express registration shall also be released soon.

Ministry of Education Releases National Achievement Survey 2021 Report

  • Ministry of Education released the National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2021 report. It assesses the health of school education system in the country by conducting comprehensive evaluation survey of children's learning competencies at classes 3, 5, 8 and 10th with a cycle period of three years. The report reflects the overall assessment of school education system. The last National Achievement Survey was held in 2017.
  • The NAS 2021 was held on 12th of November2021 at all India level and covered Government Schools, Government Aided Schools and Private Unaided Schools.
  • The objective of NAS 2021 is to evaluate children's progress and learning competencies as an indicator of the efficiency of the education system, so as to take appropriate steps for remedial actions at different levels.
