Aditya Puri Retires as HDFC Bank MD-CEO

Aditya Puri, who was HDFC Bank Managing Director and CEO for 26 years, retired from India's largest private bank. Sashidhar Jagdishan took over the charge.
Puri retired in accordance with the RBI regulations which say a private bank CEO's tenure should not exceed 70 years.
Jagdishan has been part of the bank since 1996, and played a critical role in supporting the growth trajectory of the bank. With an overall experience of over 30 years, Jagdishan has extensive knowledge and experience in the fields of banking, finance and economics.

Payal Ghosh Joins Ramdas Athawale's Party

Actor Payal Ghosh, who accused filmmaker Anurag Kashyap of raping her, joined the Republican Party of India (Athawale).
She, along with some others, joined the party in the presence of its chief and Union Minister Ramdas Athawale.
Ghosh was appointed vice president of the women's wing of the party.
Ghosh joined RPI (A) to do something for the country and thanked Athawale for supporting her in her fight against Kashyap.

Rajan Sushant Floats New Political Outfit

Former Lok Sabha member Rajan Sushant launched a new political outfit named 'Hamari Party Himachal Party'.
Sushant said that the party will emerge as an alternative to the Congress and BJP.
The party will contest elections in all four parliamentary seats and 68 Vidhan Sabha seats.

Lee Kun-hee, the Chairman of South Korea's Largest Conglomerate, Passes Away

Lee Kun-hee, the chairman of South Korea's largest conglomerate, Samsung Group, passed away at the age of 78.
Mr. Lee helped to grow his father's small trading business into an economic powerhouse, diversifying into areas like insurance and shipping.
During his lifetime, Samsung Electronics also became one of the world's biggest tech firms.
He was the richest person in South Korea with a net worth of nearly $21bn (£16bn).
Mr. Lee was the third son of Lee Byung-chul, who founded Samsung Group in 1938. He joined the family firm in 1968 and took over as chairman in 1987 after his father's death.
At the time, Samsung was seen as a producer of cheap, low-quality products. But under his leadership radical reforms were introduced at the company.
Mr. Lee became famous for telling employees in 1993: "Let's change everything except our wives and kids." The firm then burned its entire mobile phone stock, consisting of 150,000 handsets.
Samsung is by far the largest of South's Korea's chaebols - the family-owned conglomerates that dominate the country's economy.

Former Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Passes Away

Former Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddypassed away at the age of 86. He was a trade union leader and a founder member of State unit of Hind Mazdoor Sabha, one of the five national trade unions.
He was diagnosed with pneumonia when he was admitted to Apollo Hospitals on October 13 after he complained of breathlessness. The oxygen levels in his body were found to have dropped sharply.
Mr. Narasimha Reddy was born into an agricultural family in Neredugomma village near Devarakonda in erstwhile Nalgonda district. He joined politics attracted by the socialist ideology of Ram Manohar Lohia. He was Janata Party MLA twice from Musheerabad constituency in combined Andhra Pradesh in 1978 and 1985.
He plunged into the separate-Telangana movement after K. Chandrasekhar Rao floated the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in 2001. He was actively associated with all the party activities ever since.
After the formation of Telangana State in 2014, he was made Home Minister by Mr. Rao. He also handled the subjects of labour and employment. As he was not a member of the Assembly, Mr. Narasimha Reddy was inducted into the Cabinet of Mr. Rao as a Member of the Legislative Council. He was denied party ticket to contest Assembly elections in 2018.

IAF's First Woman Commissioned Officer Dies

Wing Commander Dr. Vijayalakshmi Ramanan (retd), the first woman commissioned officer of the Indian Air Force, passed away at the age of 96.
Born in February 1924, she did her MBBS and later was commissioned in the Army Medical Corps in August 1955, and was seconded to the Air Force with effect from the same day.
She served as a gynaecologist at various Air Force Hospitals. Ramanan was promoted to the rank of Wing Commander in August 1972, and honoured with the Vishist Seva Medal five years later. She retired in February 1979.
Her husband late K. V. Ramanan was also an Indian Air Force officer.

Acclaimed Carnatic Vocalist P S Narayanaswamy dies

Padmabhushana Vid. Shri Puliyur Subramaniam Narayanaswamy, one among the finest gurus of carnatic music in India, passed away at his residence.
A winner of many awards and titles, including the Padma Bhushan, and Kalaimamani from the Tamil Nadu government, Narayanaswamy was a torch bearer of the Semmangudi Tradition, evolving a style of his own with 'Manodharma Sangeetham'.
A fine concert musician, P. S Narayanswamy stood apart as a performer due to his repertoire of compositions he learnt from his Guru Semmangudi Sreenivasa Iyer.
