RBL Bank Appoints Somnath Ghosh as Non- Executive Director
RBL Bank appointed Somnath Ghosh as an Additional (Non-Executive Independent) Director of the Bank.
Ghosh is a retired Professor & Founding Dean (Academics) from Indian Institute of Management, Kashipur. Before that, he was also a professor and Chair of the doctoral program at the Management Development Institute in Gurgaon.
He has also been a regular faculty at IIMs in Lucknow, Bangalore and Indore, International Management Institute, New Delhi, as well as the Administrative Staff College of India, Hyderabad.

J&K Ex-interlocutor Passes Away
Administrator of Lakshadweep and former J&K interlocutor Dineshwar Sharma passed away. He was 64.
Sharma, a former director of the Intelligence Bureau, was appointed as the administrator of Lakshadweep in October 2019.
Prior to this, he was an interlocutor for the Centre to Jammu and Kashmir.
Sharma was a 1976-batch IPS officer and belonged to the Kerala cadre.

Former French President Giscard d'Estaing Passes Away
Former President Valery Giscard d`Estaing, who championed European integration and helped modernise French society in the 1970s, died at the age of 94 after contracting COVID-19.
He had been admitted to hospital in September with respiratory complications, and was hospitalised again in mid-November.
Giscard was elected president in 1974 at the age of 48 to become France`s youngest postwar leader.
He sought to liberalise France`s economy, was the father of France`s high-speed TGV network, and projected the image of a young, modern President who was closer to the people than his predecessors.
Giscard served one term as President, losing his re-election bid to Socialist Francois Mitterrand in the aftermath of the global economic downturn of the 1970s.

MDH Owner 'Mahashay' Dharampal Gulati Passes Away
The owner of MDH spices, Dharampal Gulati, passed away. He was 97.
Dharmpal was born on 27th March 1923 in Sialkot (Pakistan). A school dropout, who moved to India after the Partition, he had opened his first store in Delhi's Karol Bagh.
According to the company's website, MDH spices are not just popular in India but are also exported to the United States of America, Canada, United Kingdom, Europe, South East Asia, Japan, U.A.E. and Saudi Arabia. The company has its own offices in London (U.K.) and a state of art manufacturing unit at Sharjah (U.A.E.).
MDH is the second largest leader in the Indian market with 12% market share, following S. Narendrakumar's Everest Spices.
The Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat, Abhay Bharadwaj, passed away in Chennai hospital following the post-COVID-19 complications.
Bharadwaj was a prominent lawyer and was elected to Rajya Sabha in June this year. He tested coronavirus positive in August, after attending party meetings and a roadshow in Rajkot.
He had unsuccessfully contested the Gujarat Legislative Assembly elections in 1995 as an independent candidate from Rajkot West.
He was also a member of the 21st Law Commission of India and contributed towards legislation like Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Act, 2019 and Uniform civil code.
