John McAfee, Founder of McAfee Antivirus Software, Passes Away
British-American Software pioneer, John David McAfee, the creator of the McAfee antivirus software, has passed away. John was found dead in his cell in a jail near Barcelona, where he had been since October 2020, for evading taxes.
The incident happened shortly after his extradition to the United States was authorized by Spain's National Court, on criminal charges filed in Tennessee by the Justice Department's tax division. He was accused to have deliberately failed to file tax returns between 2014 and 2018, despite earning millions from consulting work, cryptocurrencies, among other things.

Jamsetji Tata Tops Global List of Top 10 Philanthropists
Jamsetji Tata, founder of the Tata Group, has topped the EdelGive Hurun Philanthropists of the Century. The report pegs the current value of his donation, mainly to education and healthcare, at $102.4 billion with the start of his key endowments way back in 1892.
Tata is the only Indian in the top 10 list. The other Indian among the top 50 is Azim Premji, former chairman of Wipro, who is ranked 12th. Bill Gates & Melinda French Gates, Henry Wellcome, Howard Hughes and Warren Buffett are among the top 5. Mackenzie Scott, the former wife of Jeff Bezos, donated $8.5 billion directly to charities, most ever in a single year by a living donor.
The ranking is based on Total Philanthropic Value, calculated as the value of the assets adjusted for inflation, together with the sum of gifts or distributions to date. The data was derived from publicly available sources and in certain cases directly as shared by the foundations.
Former Philippine President Benigno Aquino Passes Away
Former Philippine President Benigno Aquino, the son of two of the Southeast Asian country's democracy icons, died in Manila.
While in power from 2010 to 2016, he famously took China to court over a long-running dispute involving the South China Sea, parts of which the Philippines claims as the West Philippine Sea.
Aquino had been largely silent and out of the public eye after his presidency ended.

Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari has been appointed as the acting Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court.
The appointment of Justice Bhandari, the senior-most judge of the Allahabad High Court, was necessitated in view of the fact that current Chief Justice Sanjay Yadav was due to retire on June 25.
Bhandar served as the Standing Counsel for Railways, Rajasthan Road Transport Corporation, Nuclear Power Corporation, State Election Commission, Rajasthan University, all the Government Electricity Companies of Rajasthan, Jaipur Development Authority, Jaipur Municipal Corporation, Rajasthan Housing Board, Ganga Nagar Sugar Mills Ltd. and Rajasthan Agricultural University.

Legendary Carnatic Musician Parassala B. Ponnammal Passes Away
Legendary Carnatic musician and Padmashree awardee, Parassala B. Ponnammal, who enthralled classical music lovers for the last eight decades through her incredible concerts, passed away at the age of 96.
A doyen of Carnatic music, Ponnammal was a musician who had broken gender stereotypes in classical music and became the first woman student to enroll in the historic Swathi Thirunal College of Music here during the 1940s.
Ponnammal also scripted history by becoming the first woman faculty of the Swathi Thirunal College and the first-ever woman principal of the famous RLV College of Music and Fine Arts, Tripunithura.
Besides the Padma Shri in 2017, Ponnammal was also a recipient of several notable honours including the Lifetime Achievement Award instituted by Chennai Fine Arts, Sangeetha Prabhakara Award, Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, Swathi Sangeetha Puraskaram, Sree Guruvayurappan Chembai Puraskaram and so on.

DPIIT Secretary Guruprasad Mohapatra Passes Away
Department of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) secretary Dr. Guruprasad Mohapatra died. He was 59.
A Gujarat cadre 1986-batch IAS officer, he was appointed to the DPIIT in August 2019.
Prior to joining DPIIT, Dr Mohapatra had served as the chairman of the Airport Authority of India (AAI). He had earlier been deputed as a Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Veteran Malayalam Poet-lyricist S Ramesan Nair Passes Away
S. Ramesan Nair, a prolific poet-lyricist who wrote songs for over 150 Malayalam films and dozens of devotional albums, passed away at a private hospital in Kochi at the age of 73.
Nair was a mainstay of Malayalam songwriting, especially in the 80s and 90s when he delivered hit numbers for composers like MG Radhakrishnan, Johnson, Ouseppachan, Berny Ignatius, Raveendran and Shyam. He made his way into Malayalam cinema in the year 1985 by writing songs for the film 'Pathaamudayam'.
