BSF's First Female Camel Riding Squad to be Deployed in Rajasthan & Gujarat

  • BSF's first female camel riding squad is ready to be deployed along the India-Pakistan border in Rajasthan and Gujarat.
  • The squad will participate for the first time in the BSF Raising Day Parade on 1st December. This Squad will be the first of its kind in the world.

Anti-submarine Ship INS Ajay Decommissioned after 32 Years of Service

  • INS Ajay, an anti-submarine warfare corvette of Western Naval Command, was decommissioned on September 19 after 32 years of service.
  • Commissioned in the freezing temperatures of Poti Shipyard of erstwhile Soviet Union, which is presently in Georgia, the ship was decommissioned in Mumbai.
  • During its service, INS Ajay was operating as part of the 23rd Patrol Vessel Squadron under the operational control of Flag Officer Commanding, Maharashtra Naval Area. The ship's primary role was in anti-submarine warfare and with its formidable armament of long-range torpedoes and anti-submarines rockets, the submarine hunter successfully discharged its role of keeping the coasts safe.

Army Leaders from 24 Nations Belonging to Indo-Pacific region participate in IPAMS in Dhaka

  • The Army leaders from the 24 nations belonging to the Indo-Pacific region gathered in Dhaka for the Indo-Pacific Armies Management Seminar (IPAMS) and gave a message of unity and collective commitment. They also expressed concerns about the security and prosperity of the world's most consequential region.
  • The largest land forces conference in the Indo-Pacific region was inaugurated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh. It came to a close with participants expressing optimism for continued peace and stability in the region.

Army to Deploy Two Heron-Mk2 UAVs in Eastern Sector by Month End

  • As part of capability enhancement in Arunachal Pradesh beyond the Tawang sector, the Indian Army is set to deploy two Heron-Mk2 Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) or Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA), procured on lease, along the Line of Actual Control (LCA) in the Eastern sector by end of September.
  • Four SATCOM [satellite communications] enabled UAVs were contracted last year (2021) by the Army. Out of these two were deployed at Leh and two would be inducted in Eastern Command by September end.
  • These four UAVs are on lease from Israel Aircraft Industries and are more capable than the ones in service.

RattanIndia Launches its First Anti-drone 'Defender'

  • RattanIndia Enterprises launched its first anti-drone product 'Defender.' The anti-drone was developed by RattanIndia Enterprises' step-down subsidiary Throttle Aerospace Systems. RattanIndia's wholly-owned subsidiary NeoSky India Ltd had acquired 60% stake in Throttle Aerospace earlier this year (2022). RattanIndia operates its drone business in India through NeoSky India.
  • Defender will be a 70% indigenous product with a 30% import component of BLDC motor and batteries. The manufacturing will take place at Throttle Aerospace's Bengaluru manufacturing facility.

J&K: Indian Navy Revives Training Centre at Manasbal Lake after 33 Years

  • The Indian Navy revived a training area at Jammu and Kashmir's Manasbal Lake in Ganderbal district. Officials said that the facility in central Kashmir was excellent for the naval training of NCC in J&K. However, due to deteriorating security situation back then, the site had to be abandoned in 1989. The training areas were then shifted to the Mansar Lake in Jammu. After a gap of 33 years and since the security situation has improved in J&K, as per officials, Indian Navy started providing training to NCC cadets here again.
  • Speaking to reporters at the training centre, Group Commander NCC Group Srinagar Brigadier K. S. Kalsi said it is a momentous occasion and a red-letter day for the NCC in the Kashmir valley.

National Defense MSME Conclave and Exhibition Begins in Kota, Rajasthan

  • Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt inaugurated the National Defence MSME Conclave and Exhibition in Kota, Rajasthan.
  • More than 50 companies, start-ups and MSMEs working in defence sector are participating in the event.
  • Defense equipment including T-90 and BMP-2 tanks, artillery guns, various types of sniper and machine guns and military bridges were displayed in the exhibition.
  • The Drone Light Show and Live Concert was also the highlight of the programme. Defense Conclave and Exhibition was organised for the first time in Rajasthan.
