World Food India 2025 Scheduled in New Delhi from September 25-28

  • World Food India 2025 is being organised from September 25 to 28, 2025 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The 4th edition of World Food India aims to promote investments in the diverse food processing sector, as well as introduce India's rich food culture to the World. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the event.
  • Briefing the media in New Delhi, Minister of Food Processing Industries, Chirag Paswan, said that World Food India is not merely a trade show, but a transformative platform to position India as a global hub for food innovation, investment, and sustainability.
  • He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this event demonstrates a commitment to sustainable, inclusive, and future-ready food systems and strengthens India's position as the Food Basket of the World.

Visakhapatnam Declaration 2025: Charting India's Digital Transformation

  • India's digital governance journey took a major leap forward with the adoption of the Visakhapatnam Declaration at the 28th National Conference on e-Governance (NCeG) held in September 2025. Co-hosted by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), and the Government of Andhra Pradesh, the two-day conference culminated in a strategic roadmap that aligns with the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
  • The declaration, unveiled in Visakhapatnam, outlined an ambitious and inclusive path for India's digital transformation, emphasizing cutting-edge technologies, civil service reform, cybersecurity, and grassroots empowerment.
  • The theme "Viksit Bharat: Civil Service and Digital Transformation" guided the conference, reiterating the need for a data-driven, citizen-first governance model.

Home Minister Amit Shah Inaugurates Startup Conclave 2025 at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar

  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the Startup Conclave 2025 at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and the State Higher and Technical Education Minister Rushikesh Patel will be present at the opening ceremony.
  • The two-day event, which was organised by the state Education department, was featured more than 1,000 startups, 5,000 innovators, 100 industry mentors, 50-plus venture funds, and leading policymakers on a single platform.
  • The conclave was also showcased 170-plus startups from 20 states, including those selected by Startup India, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and innovations for defence excellence. The state government was also facilitated the signing of 50 MoUs between startups, investors, and financial institutions, alongside the distribution of funding cheques and Letters of Intent to selected ventures.

Department of Food and Public Distribution Signs MoU with FCI

  • Department of Food and Public Distribution, in September 2025, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Food Corporation of India in New Delhi.
  • According to the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, the MoU aims to set performance parameters and goals to ensure greater efficiency and accountability in food grain management.
  • The agreement will emphasize on reducing storage losses, improving the utilization of warehousing capacity, enhancing logistics and supply chain performance, and strengthening quality control.

Deputy CM Inaugurates Training Camp; TNUHDB Housing Units

  • Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin inaugurated the 'Aadhi Kalaikkol' training camp that aims to benefit youths from the Adi Dravidar and Tribal communities in the State.
  • He said the camp would train the youths in folk art, theatre art, literature and visual art, among others. 
  • In another event, Mr. Udhayanidhi inaugurated over 500 housing units in tenements constructed by the Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board at a total cost of Rs. 77 crore.

The 28th National Conference on e-Governance

  • The Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG) and the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), in collaboration with the State Government of Andhra Pradesh, organised the 28th National Conference on e- Governance (NCeG) on September 22–23, 2025, in Vishakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
  • The theme for this year's (2025) conference is 'Viksit Bharat: Civil Service and Digital Transformation.' 
  • The two-day conference was inaugurated by N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, and Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Earth Sciences. The two-day event was also graced by the presence of Pawan Kalyan, Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and N. Lokesh, Minister for IT, Human Resources Development of Andhra Pradesh. 
  • The Conference featured 6 plenary sessions and 6 breakout sessions. Overall, about 70 speakers from diverse backgrounds shared their experiences and present the best practices on a wide range of sub-themes.

Jharkhand Launches 'Swachhta Hi Seva' Campaign to Boost Cleanliness and Sanitation

  • The 'Swachhta Hi Seva' campaign, launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) under the Swachh Bharat Mission, began across Jharkhand in September 2025.
  • The fortnight-long drive, which will continue until October 2, focuses on intensive cleanliness, sanitation, and waste segregation activities in urban areas of the state with the active involvement of civic bodies, schools, SHGs, and community groups.
  • The campaign, aligned with Gandhi Jayanti, will see daily activities across cities, towns, schools, and community spaces to promote responsible waste management and hygiene practices.

Tamil Nadu Becomes First State to Issue ID Cards for Women SHG Members

  • Tamil Nadu became the first state in India to issue identity cards to Women Self-Help Group (SHG) members, marking a significant milestone in the empowerment of women at the grassroots level.
  • The initiative launched by Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin at Karuppur in Salem district, along with the distribution of Rs. 3,500 crore in loans to SHGs.
  • This move strengthens the institutional support for over five lakh SHGs operating in the state and enhances their access to both financial and social benefits.
  • The idea was born during a government function held five months ago in Tiruvarur, where SHG members requested ID cards for easier access to government schemes.
  • Chief Minister M.K. Stalin responded by announcing the rollout of ID cards on March 8, 2025, coinciding with International Women's Day.

EC De-Lists 474 Political Parties over Norm Violations

  • In a significant clean-up move, the Election Commission of India (ECI) de-listed 474 Registered Unrecognised Political Parties (RUPPs) for failing to comply with mandatory electoral and financial regulations.
  • This action came as part of a broader initiative aimed at ensuring greater transparency and accountability among political entities in the country.
  • With this second round of delisting, the total number of parties removed from the register has reached 808 in just two months, marking a decisive shift in the way the EC enforces norms on political participation and financial disclosures.
