Qatar Science And Technology Park Plans To Invest $50m To Support Start-Ups
Building on its success over the past 10 years, Qatar Science and Technology Park's (QSTP), a member of Qatar Foundation, will offer $50m in the next five years to support start-ups.
While QSTP's core mandate and commitment remain to continue growing the business research and development aspect, it is actively growing its technology innovation and entrepreneurship offerings through various full-featured educational, training, mentorship, as well as comprehensive funding programmes.
This positions QSTP as an engine that drives the implementation of research, development, and innovation for the national benefit and global impact.
QSTP was initiated as an entrepreneurial, venture funding culture, and all the associated facilities and systems to support such.

The Australian Academy of Science welcomes a range of Australia–US bilateral science and technology initiatives announced by Prime Minister Scott Morrison during his meetings in Washington.

Russia's World-First Floating Nuclear Plant Arrives At Siberian Port
Russia's world first floating nuclear power station completed a 5,000-kilometer (3,100-mile) Arctic transfer to the country's far east.
The 21-ton, 144-meter-long (470 feet) and 30-meter-wide platform, which is designed to meet the energy needs of remote communities, was towed into Pevek by a clutch of vessels.
The station houses two 35-megawatt reactors, more in line with the power of nuclear-powered ice breakers than typical new generation nuclear plants boasting nearer 1,000 MW capacity.
The Akademik Lomonosov will provide energy for around 100,000 people and also power oil platforms as Russia develops extraction of natural resources in a mineral-rich area whose eastern tip is only a few dozen kilometers from Alaska.
India To Build 60 Supercomputers
India plans to indigenously develop 60 supercomputers over the next three years.
These systems will be implemented by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) and six machines will be installed by the end of the year 2019.
China Successfully Launches Three New Satellites
China successfully launched three satellites, including a resource satellite, into planned orbits which will help in disaster prevention, urban construction and monitor polar regions and global climate change.
The resource satellite and two small satellites were launched on a Long March-4B carrier rocket from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Centre in north China's Shanxi Province.
The resource satellite ZY-1 02D is developed by the China Academy of Space Technology (CAST) and is an important part of China's space-based infrastructure.

India Gifts Solar Panels to UN
Signifying its commitment to sustainability and climate action, India has gifted solar panels -- one each for the 193 UN member states -- that are being installed on the roof of the United Nations headquarters.
The solar panels, which are valued about a million dollars and gifted to all the UN member states in a symbolic gesture, are powered up to reach the max of 50 KW of generation power.
India has contributed nearly a million dollars to the ambitious solar project at the world body headquarters that entails installation of solar panels on the roof of the UN building.
