Manush Shah and Diya Chitale Clinch Mixed Doubles Title at WTT Contender Tunis 2025

  • Manush Shah and Diya Chitale etched their names in history by clinching the mixed doubles title at the 2025 World Table Tennis (WTT) Contender Tunis. This remarkable achievement made them only the second Indian pair to win the mixed doubles title at a WTT Contender event, following the success of Manika Batra and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran in 2021.
  • The Indian duo of Manush Shah and Diya Chitale faced the Japanese pair of Sora Matsushima and Miwa Harimoto in the final.

Cricket, MMA Confirmed for Asian Games 2026 in Japan

  • Cricket was confirmed for the 20th edition of the Asian Games to be held in Japan next year (2026) from September 19 to October 4, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) announced.
  • A press note on OCA's official website said that cricket and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) were included in the competition.
  • Cricket has been a part of Asian Games for 2010, 2014 and 2022 editions.

Nat Sciver-Brunt Appointed England Women's Captain across All Formats

  • Nat Sciver-Brunt was appointed the new captain of the England women's side. She replaced Heather Knight, who stepped down after England's 2025 women's Ashes series following a near nine-year stint.
  • She will captain all three formats in tandem with newly appointed head coach Charlotte Edwards.
  • She has been a regular member of England's side since her debut in 2013 and is considered one of the most talented cricketers in the world.

Marshal Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament 2025

  • The sixth edition of the Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament-2025 began on April 29, at the Raghbir Singh Bhola Hockey Stadium, No 3 Base Repair Depot (BRD), Air Force Station, Chandigarh. The tournament, organised by the Air Force Sports Control Board (AFSCB), will conclude on May 6.
  • The tournament aims to promote hockey and sporting excellence, reflecting Marshal Arjan Singh's legacy and the Indian Air Force's commitment to nurturing talented athletes, who bring laurels to their nation.
  • The participating teams include Chandigarh XI, Tata Naval Hockey Academy, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indian Railways, Indian Army, Indian Navy, Round Glass, Punjab & Sind Bank, Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala, Central Board of Direct Taxes, Indian Air Force, and Bangladesh Air Force.
  • The tournament offers attractive prize money, with the winners receiving Rs. 3,00,000, runners-up Rs. 2,00,000, Man of the Match Rs. 10,000 (each match), and Player of the Tournament Rs. 25,000.

Youth National Boxing Championships 2025

  • Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) and Haryana dominated the ring in the seventh Youth Men and Women National Boxing Championships 2025. SSCB won the team gold in the men's category while Haryana took the crown in the women's category.
  • The week-long event held at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex, Greater Noida was also a qualifier for the prestigious Under-19 Asian Boxing Championship 2025. Twenty outstanding male and female boxers who won gold medals qualified for the upcoming event.

Suryavanshi Breaks World Record, Becomes Youngest Player to Slam Century in IPL

  • Rajasthan Royal' newest batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi created history becoming the youngest batter ever to score an IPL century at the age of 14 years and 32 days.
  • Suryavanshi brought up his whirlwind ton off only 35 balls with a whopping 11 sixes and seven fours, against Gujarat Titans recording the second-fastest century in the history of IPL. He was finally out for 101 off 37 balls, becoming the youngest ever to score a century in men's T20 cricket.
  • The record of fastest century in IPL belongs to former West Indies batter Chris Gayle, who had brought up his triple figure mark in 30 balls for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Pune Warriors in April 2013.

  • Liverpool FC clinched their 20th English league title with a commanding 5–1 victory over North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.
  • Goals from midfielders Cody Gakpo and Alexis Mac Allister, alongside strikes from forward Luis Díaz and the ever-reliable Egyptian King, Mohamed Salah, powered the Reds to their second Premier League title—marking their first since the historic triumph in 2020. India Sweeps 2nd Asian Yogasana Sport Championship with 83 Gold Medals

  • India put on a stellar performance at the 2nd Asian Yogasana Sport Championship, dominating the competition with an impressive 83 gold medals.
  • The three-day championship, held at the K. D. Jadhav Arena, Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in New Delhi, saw participation from over 21 countries, including Japan, Mongolia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Uzbekistan, and more. India claimed the top spot, while Japan followed with 3 golds, 3 silvers, and 4 bronzes. Mongolia, Oman, and Nepal completed the top five in the medal tally.

Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya Launches Issuance of Sports Certificates via DigiLocker

  • Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, Mansukh Mandaviya launched the issuance of sports certificates via DigiLocker at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi.
  • Mandaviya reaffirmed the Government's commitment to athlete welfare, stating that all sports initiatives undertaken by Modi Government are athlete-centric.
  • He announced that sports certificates issued via DigiLocker will soon be integrated with the National Sports Repository System (NSRS), enabling automatic disbursal of Government cash rewards directly into athletes' bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), eliminating the need for paper applications.

Animesh Sets New Men's 200m National Record

  • Animesh Kujur from Odisha broke the three-year-old 200m National record, clocking an impressive 20.40s, at the Federation Cup at Kochi's Maharaja College Stadium.
  • He had broken the Indian national record, set two years ago, by 0.12 seconds.
