Sixth Pan America Women Cup Hockey Championship

Argentina defeated Chile, 4-2 to win its 6th women's field hockey championship title at the 2022 Women's Pan American Cup. The Women's Pan American Cup is the quadrennial international championship of the Americas organized by the Pan American Hockey Federation.
The 2022 Women's Pan Am Cup was the sixth edition of the championship. It was held from January 19 to 29, 2022 in Santiago, Chile. With this win both Argentina and Chile have sealed automatic qualification spots at the FIH Hockey Women's World Cup, Spain and Netherlands 2022.

Sreejesh Becomes Second Indian to Win World Games Athlete of the Year Award

Veteran India hockey goalkeeper P. R. Srejeesh won the prestigious World Games Athlete of the Year for his 2021 performances, becoming only the second Indian to receive the accolade.
In 2020, Indian women's hockey captain Rani Rampal became the first Indian to win the honour for her performances in 2019.
Sreejsh beat competition from sport climber Alberto Gins Lpez of Spain and Italy's wushu player Michele Giordano for the award.

Krejcikova-Siniakova Pair Clinches Australian Open Women's Doubles Title

The Czech Republic's pair of Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova clinched their fourth Grand Slam women's doubles title as a team, defeating Kazakhstan's Anna Danilina and Brazil's Beatriz Haddad Maia in the Australian Open final.
This was the No.1 seeds' maiden Australia Open title and came after the Czech duo overcame a spirited challenge from the unseeded pair of Danilina and Haddad Maia 6-7(3), 6-4, 6-4.

Odisha Open | Unnati Becomes Youngest Women Singles Champion

Fourteen-year-old Unnati Hooda capped a splendid run with an impressive finish against a fighting Smit Toshniwal to become the youngest winner of the women's singles title in the $75,000 Odisha Open badminton tournament at Cuttack.
For the men's singles title, Kiran George staved off a remarkable rally from Priyanshu Rajawat in three games.
Treesa Jolly and P. Gayatri defeated Sanyogita Ghorpade and Shruti Mishra to win the women's doubles title.

Tata Steel Chess Tournament

GM Magnus Carlsen won the 2022 Tata Steel Masters Tournament with a score of 9.5/13, which is his record-breaking eighth win at this prestigious tournament. GMs Shakhriyar Mamedyarov and Richard Rapport both scored 8/13.
In the Challengers Tournament, GM Arjun Erigaisi won with a score of 10.5/13 which was a full two points ahead of GMs Thai Dai Van Nguyen and Jonas Buhl Bjerre.
The Tata Steel Chess Tournament in Wijk aan Zee, Netherlands, is one of the most distinguished over-the-board tournaments in all of chess. Tata Steel Chess Tournament is annually in January.

Rafael Nadal Beats Medvedev to Win Australian Open

Rafael Nadal got to 21 first, breaking the men's record for most Grand Slam singles titles and doing it the hard way by coming back from two sets down to beat Daniil Medvedev in the Australian Open final.
It was the second longest Australian Open final after Novak Djokovic beat Nadal in five sets in 5 hours and 53 minutes in 2012.

Ash Barty Wins Drought-breaking Australian Open Title

Ash Barty has won the Australian Open final 6-3, 7-6 (2) over Danielle Collins to end a 44-year drought for Australian women at their home Grand Slam tournament.
Barty is the first Australian woman into the singles final of the Australian Open since Wendy Turnbull in 1980 and is now the first Australian champion since Chris O'Neil in 1978.
Barty now has major titles on three surfaces, adding the hard court at Melbourne Park to her win on grass at Wimbledon last year and on clay at the French Open in 2019.

Australian Cricket Awards 2022: Mitchell Starc Wins Allan Border Medal

Senior pacer Mitchell Starc claimed his maiden Allan Border medal while Ashleigh Gardner became the first indigenous person to win the Belinda Clarke award, the top two honours at Cricket Australia (CA) Awards. Starc was honoured for his strong performance in all three formats of the game. He is only the fifth bowler in 22 years to win the award.
Gardener also bagged the recognition for the first time. She is the first indigenous player to clinch the top gong in Australian women's cricket. The awards were decided by a voting process for the period 2021-22. The award winners were decided by votes from players, umpires, and media representatives throughout the year. The announcement came during the lunch break of the ongoing women's Ashes Test.

Women's Asia Cup Hockey: India Clinches Bronze

India defeated China 2-0 to win a consolation bronze medal at the Women's Hockey Asia Cup.
Japan defeated South Korea and won the gold at the Women's Hockey Asia Cup.
South Korea and Japan have won the most titles with 3.

Australian Open: Mladenovic, Dodic Win Mixed Doubles Championship

Kristina Mladenovic of France and Ivan Dodig of Croatia defeated Australian players Jaimee Fourlis and Jason Kubler to win the mixed doubles championship.
Mladenovic also won the mixed doubles title at the Australian Open in 2014 with Daniel Nestor and has two women's doubles titles in 2018 and 2020 in Australia among her five major women's doubles titles.
Dodig has three other Grand Slam mixed doubles titles and two in men's doubles, including last year's Australian Open title with Filip Polek.

Asian Games 2022

The 2022 Asian Games will take place from September 10 to September 25, 2022, in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China and there will be five co-host cities.
The multi-sporting event will feature 40 sports with a total of 61 disciplines, including Olympic sports like swimming, archery, athletics, badminton, equestrian, fencing, football, hockey, judo, kabaddi, and much more.
E-sports and breakdancing will debut in the 2022 Asian Games as full medal sports after being approved by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) this year, while Cricket will be back at Asian Games in T20 format to raise the excitement of the viewers.
