Punit Bisht Creates New Indian Record for Maximum Sixes

A blistering 51-ball 146 by captain Punit Bisht, which included six fours and 17 sixes, powered Meghalaya to a massive 130-run win over Mizoram in a Plate group match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament. In the process, the former Delhi wicketkeeper batsman created a new record for most sixes hit by an Indian in T20 cricket.
West Indian Chris Gayle holds the record for most sixes in a T20 -- in the Bangladesh Premier League T20 for the Rangpur Riders -- but Bisht almost matched that record hitting 17 sixes. His 146 not out was also the second-highest score in the history of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy after Shreyas Iyer's 147.

Jay Shah Named BCCI's Official Representative on ICC Board

Jay Shah has been named as the official representative of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Board meetings.
Shah is the Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He will replace BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, who was currently representing India at the ICC Board, but he suffered a heart condition and had to be admitted to hospital where he underwent primary angioplasty.

Dhaka Marathon 2021

Jigmet Dolma from India secured the fourth position in the Dhaka Marathon 2021. Jigmet Dolma is an SPO of Ladakh police. In the marathon, Hicham Lakohi of Morocco came first in the elite competition of the marathon in men's category while Angela Jim Asunde from Kenya won the women's category in the same event. In the full marathon, among the SAARC and local runners, Bahadur Singh of India became the champion in the men's category and Pushpa Bhandari of Nepal became the champion in the women's category.
The marathon was organized to commemorate the return of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman from Pakistan jail to Bangladesh in 1972. The full marathon covered 42.19 kilometres while the half-marathon covered 21.09 kilometres. Athletes from all over the world including India, Morocco, Kenya, France, Nepal, Ethiopia among others participated in various categories of the event. Home Minister of Bangladesh Asaduzzaman Khan inaugurated the event at Dhaka Army Stadium.

Bangladesh Ropes in Jon Lewis as Batting Coach

Bangladesh appointed Jon Lewis as batting coach for the upcoming two bilateral series against the West Indies and New Zealand.
Lewis who had served as batting coach of Sri Lanka cricket team, will step in the shoes of Neil McKenzie, who stepped down in August 2020 citing family reasons.

Ravi Shastri Unveils Sunil Gavaskar's Portrait at SCG

- Former India all-rounder and head coach Ravi Shastri unveiled a portrait of batting great Sunil Gavaskar at the Sydney Cricket Ground on the eve of the 3rd Test between India and Australia at the iconic venue.
- Sunil Gavaskar's portrait will be displayed at the Sydney Cricket Ground museum before being taken to Bowral Museum at Bradman Center in New South Wales. Gavaskar's portrait will be displayed alongside the portrait of legendary Sachin Tendulkar which is already on display.
- Ravi Shastri also released a book, 'India's 71-Year Test: The Journey to Triumph in Australia' that traces the journey of India cricket teams in Australia.

Sanjay Kapoor Elected All India Chess Federation President

Sanjay Kapoor was elected president of All India Chess Federation (AICF) while Bharat Singh Chauhan retained the secretary's post in the polls held online.
Kapoor, representing Uttar Pradesh Chess Association, defeated incumbent PR Venketrama Raja in a close contest. Kapoor received 33 votes as against 31 of Raja.
Chauhan beat Ravindra Dongre 35-29.
Naresh Sharma, belonging to the Chauhan faction, was elected as treasurer, beating Kishore Bandekar 34-30.
The AICF has been split into two factions, one led by Raja and the other by Chauhan. The two have been at loggerheads for some time over various issues, including the conduct of the elections.
Several legal battles were fought in the past one and a half year and there were instances when the president and the secretary suspended each other at different times.
