Bihar to Host Its First Nuclear Power Plant under India's New SMR Mission
Union Power Minister Manohar Lal Khattar declared that Bihar will soon have its first nuclear power plant, making it one of the first six Indian states to be included in the rollout of Small Modular Reactor (SMR)-based energy systems.
This development follows a formal request by the Bihar government, which the Centre now approved. Though the exact location and capacity of the project are yet to be finalised, the plan signals a transformative chapter in Bihar's energy and infrastructure landscape.
Rinku Singh to Join UP Education Department
Indian cricketer Rinku Singh is set to join the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Department as a District Basic Education Officer (BSA). The appointment came under the International Medal Winner Direct Recruitment Rules, 2022, a government policy recognising and rewarding sportspersons who have brought glory to India at the international level.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated a six-lane bridge over the Ganges that connects the state capital Patna with Raghopur, the political stronghold of his arch-rival RJD president Lalu Prasad. This strategic infrastructure project carries deep political symbolism, linking the seat of power with the constituency of the opposition leader.
The ceremony was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, along with Assembly Speaker Nawal Kishor Yadav, who represents the Patna Sahib constituency under which Kachchi Dargah falls.
PM Chairs 48th PRAGATI Meeting
Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 48th meeting of PRAGATI, the ICT-enabled, multi-modal platform aimed at fostering pro-active governance and timely implementation, by seamlessly integrating efforts of the Central and State governments, at South Block.
During the meeting, Prime Minister reviewed certain critical infrastructure projects across the Mines, Railways, and Water Resources sectors. These projects, pivotal to economic growth and public welfare, were reviewed with a focus on timelines, inter-agency coordination, and issue resolution.

Seventh Helicopter & Small Aircraft Summit Held in Pune
The Ministry of Civil Aviation, in collaboration with the State Government of Maharashtra, Pawan Hans and FICCI, organised the 7th Helicopter & Small Aircraft Summit in Pune.
The Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu, presided as the Chief Guest while Minister of State, Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, was the Guest of Honour.
Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu announced the establishment of a dedicated Helicopter Directorate under the DGCA to provide single-window regulatory oversight, address helicopter-specific safety and certification issues, and assist operators with procedural requirements.
India Launches Largest-Ever Tribal Empowerment Campaign
In a step towards inclusive governance and last-mile service delivery, the Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA) launched the Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan, the largest-ever tribal empowerment campaign in India.
The initiative aims to saturate government benefits across 549 tribal districts, 2,900+ blocks, and 207 Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG)-dominated districts, covering nearly 1 lakh villages and habitations.
Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram described it as a major milestone in realising the vision of Antyodaya and Viksit Bharat.
The campaign ends on July 30, 2025.
Government Unveils 'NAVYA' to Empower Young Adolescent Girls with Vocational Skills
In a step toward advancing women-led development under the Viksit Bharat@2047 vision, the central government launch NAVYA – Nurturing Aspirations through Vocational Training for Young Adolescent Girls in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh.
The initiative marks a joint pilot programme by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), aimed at empowering adolescent girls through targeted vocational training.
NAVYA aims to empower adolescent girls aged 16 to 18 years, who have completed at least Class 10, by providing them with vocational training—particularly in non-traditional job roles—opening up pathways to participate in emerging sectors of the economy.

Assam Announces OBC Status for Trans Community and Reservations for Anganwadi Workers
In a policy push aimed at promoting social inclusion and grassroots empowerment, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, announced that the transgender community in Assam will now be granted OBC (Other Backward Class) status. In a parallel move, he also declared 50% reservation in supervisor-level positions under the Women and Child Development Department (WCD) for Anganwadi workers, boosting their career progression within the government framework.
The provision of OBC status will open doors for trans individuals in education, employment, and government welfare schemes, while the reservation for Anganwadi workers in supervisory posts under the ICDS scheme recognizes and institutionalises their long-standing contributions.

India to Conduct First Comprehensive Household Income Survey in 2026
In a step to bridge critical data gaps in the Indian economy, the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) announced that the National Sample Survey (NSS) will undertake its first full-fledged Household Income Survey in 2026. The initiative aims to generate detailed insights into income distribution and assess the impact of structural changes in the Indian economy over the last 75 years.
Since its inception in 1950, the NSS has built a global reputation for its wide-ranging and methodically rigorous household surveys, conducted on an annual and quarterly basis.
MoPR Partners with IIM Ahmedabad to Train Panchayats in Generating Own Source Revenue
The Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR), under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, launched a comprehensive Training of Trainers (ToT) programme aimed at strengthening the financial autonomy of Panchayats. The inaugurated at the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), New Delhi, focuses on enhancing the capacity of Panchayats to generate their Own Source Revenue (OSR). This initiative is being implemented under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA) in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad.

India Launches City Accelerator Programme to Boost Rooftop Solar Adoption in Cities
Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), launched the City Accelerator Program during the National Conference on Skill Development for Renewable Energy Workforce held at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan, New Delhi. The program is being implemented in collaboration with Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation (SSEF).
The City Accelerator Program is a key initiative under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSGMBY), the world's largest domestic rooftop solar (RTS) scheme, and aims to drive faster adoption of RTS across Indian cities. The program is designed to provide:

The 6th All India Conference of Government Railway Police Chiefs, organised under the aegis of the Railway Protection Force concluded successfully at Vigyan Bhawan,New Delhi. The high-level conference, presided over by Director General, RPF, Manoj Yadava, witnessed the participation of DGPs, ADGPs, and senior officers from the GRP of various states and union territories, alongside representatives from the Ministry of Railways.
