Virat Kohli Becomes Seventh Indian Cricketer to Play 300 ODIs
Virat Kohli, one of India's greatest cricketers, reached a historic milestone. During the Champions Trophy match against New Zealand in Dubai, he played his 300th One Day International (ODI) match. With this achievement, Kohli became the 7th Indian and 22nd player in the world to reach this milestone.
The list is led by Sachin Tendulkar, who played 463 matches.
Gulmarg Gears Up for Khelo India Winter Games 2025 after Heavy Snowfall
The famous ski resort of Gulmarg, located in Jammu and Kashmir, is all set to host the Khelo India Winter Games (KIWG) 2025 from March 9 to 12. The much-awaited event was earlier scheduled from February 22 to 25, but due to a lack of snow, it had to be postponed. With fresh moderate to heavy snowfall in the region, the sports council confirmed that Gulmarg is now ready to host the competition.
The Khelo India Winter Games 2025 will feature a range of winter sports disciplines, including: Alpine Skiing, Nordic Skiing, Ski Mountaineering and Snowboarding.
As per the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, the games will witness participation from 30 teams, comprising around 1,000 athletes and officers from various states and sports boards across India. The event is expected to draw national attention, with top-tier athletes showcasing their skills in different winter sports.
India to Host World Para Athletics Grand Prix from March 11 to 13
India is set to mark a historic moment in athletics by hosting its first-ever World Para Athletics Grand Prix, a landmark event that promises to elevate the country's track and field landscape.
Scheduled from March 11 to 13 at the iconic Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi, the event will feature over 90 competitions across three days and will witness participation from elite para-athletes representing 20 countries.
Top countries like Germany, Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and many more countries' athletes will be participating in the event.
The Grand Prix will be graced by the presence of Majid Rashed, the Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) President, and Tarek Souei, the CEO of the Asian Paralympic Committee, along with key dignitaries from the Indian sports ecosystem.

Krishna Jayasankar currently studying in Texas, United States, sent happy tidings from the Mountain West Indoor Track and Field Championship held in Albuquerque, as she became the new record-holder in indoor shot put among the Indian women.
Krishna tossed the iron sphere to a new distance of 16.03 metres that bettered the previous Indian indoor best of 15.54 m by Maharashtra's Poornarao Rane, another US residing student athlete.

A magnificent run in domestic cricket this season culminated in a third Ranji Trophy title for Vidarbha, who emerged champions on the basis of their first-innings lead in the summit clash.
The fate of the contest was all but sealed on the third evening when Vidarbha edged ahead with a slender lead of 37 runs in the first innings, having dismissed a doughty Kerala for 342 after putting on 379 runs batting first.
It is for the third time that Vidarbha won the Ranji Trophy title, having done so earlier with their two consecutive wins in the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons.

Karting sensation Atiqa Mir (10) became the first Indian and Asian to be signed by Formula 1 Academy for its driver program, a testament to her rapid growth in the world of motorsport.
F1 Academy, a female only racing series owned by Formula 1, has decided to take Atiqa on board for its Discover Your Drive Program (DYD) after closely tracking her stellar performances on the karting circuit.
The racer from Jammu and Kashmir is only one of three drivers in the mini category (age 8-11) worldwide to be chosen for the DYD program.

Jos Buttler Resigns as England ODI, T20I Captain
Jos Buttler stepped down as England's white-ball captain following his team's Champions Trophy 2025 group-stage exit. Buttler announced his decision on the eve of the team's final league stage match against South Africa, confirming that the match at the National Stadium in Karachi will be his last as the leader of the white-ball setups.
After suffering a defeat to Australia in their group-stage opener last week, Buttler's men suffered a harrowing defeat to Afghanistan in Lahore.
The loss marked England's seventh successive loss under Buttler's captaincy starting from last month's (January) tour to India where they were blanked 3-0 in the ODIs and lost the preceding T20I leg 4-1.

IPL 2025: Kevin Pietersen Named Delhi Capitals Mentor
Former England captain Kevin Pietersen was named the Delhi Capitals mentor for the IPL 2025 season. Pietersen will be seen in a coaching assignment for the first time in the IPL since last featuring as a player in the league in 2016.
Pietersen played for three IPL teams across five seasons from 2009, including Delhi (then Daredevils). He also led in 17 matches in the IPL. After leading Royal Challengers Bengaluru briefly in IPL 2009, Pietersen captained Daredevils in 2014 when they finished at the bottom of the league table with only two wins.
Sports Ministry Introduces New Course to Help Elite Athletes Become Coaches
Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya launched a special 'Capacity Building Course' in collaboration with Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports, Patiala for current and former elite sports persons in an effort to help India produce more home-grown coaches and officials.
The course has been designed and developed for athletes who are currently employed and serving in various central government or autonomous departments, organisations under central government or Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
The eligibility criteria for this course are participation or medal winner in Olympics, World Championships, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games.
The medal winners of Youth Olympics, Junior World Championship, World University Games, senior National Championship and National Games can enrol for the course.
