Sri Lanka to Host Asia Cup T20 Tournament from August 27 to September 11
All five Test teams of the continent, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and hosts Sri Lanka, will feature in the tournament, along with one more Asian side that will be decided after a qualifier tournament which will be held from August 20. The tournament that usually alternates between ODI and T20I formats was last played in 2018 and won by India. The COVID-19 pandemic had forced the postponement of the 2020 edition. Pakistan, who was originally supposed to host the 2022 Asia Cup, now has the hosting rights for 2023.

PM Modi Launches the Khel Mahakumbh 2022
PM Modi launched the Khel Mahakumbh 2022 at Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Khel Mahakumbh is an annual sports competition organized by the Gujarat government.
It was started in 2010 and has revolutionized sports in Gujarat. The first Khel Mahakumbh in 2010 witnessed the participation of 13 lakh players in 16 sports. In 2019's Khel Mahakumbh, the participation increased to 40 lakh players participated in 36 sports and 26 para-sports.
There is no age limit for Khel Mahakumbh. Any person of a minimum of 09 years can register through the online portal to take part in the Khel Mahakumbh 2022. Different games are there for different age groups.
Both traditional and modern sports events are conducted, they include kabaddi, kho-kho, tug of war, yogasana, mallakhambh, tennis, fencing, etc.

Chennai to host Chess Olympiad this year after shifting out of Russia
Chennai will host the 44th Chess Olympiad in July this year. The International Chess Federation (FIDE) Council had decided to shift the venue of the event out of Moscow.
The venue will be the convention centre at the Four Points by Sheraton, located in the Mahabalipuram area, one of the main tourist destinations in southern India.
The International Chess Federation or FIDE approved the bid offered by the All India Chess Federation (AICF) to host the mega biennial event that would see about 190 nations competing for the medals.
"The exact schedule is still being discussed and will be announced in the coming days, but the event will take place between the end of July and the beginning of August, not very far off from the dates originally planned," FIDE said.

Shreyas Iyer Named ICC 'Player of the Month'
India batter Shreyas Iyer was voted the ICC 'Men's Player of the Month' for February, while New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr bagged the honour among women.
Iyer earned the award on the back of his brilliant white-ball exploits during the home series against the West Indies and Sri Lanka respectively last month.
He pipped UAE's Vriitya Aravind and Nepal's Dipendra Singh Airee to claim the honour.
Kerr, the New Zealand all-rounder, was named the Women's POTM, following her supreme consistency with both bat and ball during the home white-ball series against India.
Kerr was chosen ahead of fellow nominees, India captain Mithali Raj and all-rounder Deepti Sharma for the award.

Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo etched his name in the record books as professional football's all-time leading scorer with 807 goals after a brilliant hat-trick against Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur. The Portuguese break Josef Bican's previous record of 805 goals, according to FIFA records.
