NASA To Pay $4.6 Bn To Buy 6 Spacecraft For Artemis Moon Missions

NASA has contracted American global aerospace company Lockheed Martin to develop minimum six and as many as 12 spacecraft for its Artemis lunar exploration programme.
NASA has designated a total of around $4.6 billion for six spacecrafts.
NASA's Artemis programme aims to land American astronauts, including the first woman and the next man, on the Moon by 2024

BPRD to OrganizeNational Level Seminar On Anti Drone Technology

The Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D) is organizing a National Level Seminar cum Exhibition on Anti-Drone Technology at BPR&D, New Delhi on 26 September, 2019.
BPR&D will demonstrate on 27 September 2019 at BSF Campus, Bhondsi, Haryana.
The National Level seminar cum exhibition and demonstration is to ensure that Police officers from all States, Union Territories (UTs), Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Central Police Organisation (CPO) have updated information about Anti- Drone Technology.
It will also ensure to explore the best comprehensive and compatible solution to control rogue drones.

Events:

The seminar includes 3 sessions including:

1) Threat Perspective, Border, Oil/Gas, Critical Infrastructure, Civil Aviation, Terrorism, Law enforcement

2) To understand Anti-Drone Detection, Identification, Tracking, Mitigation of Rogue Drones

3) Policy Framework for Anti-Drone Technology

Planned For Six Months, India's Mars Mission Mangalyaan Completes Five Years

The Mars Orbiter Mission is the only artificial satellite that could image the full disc of Mars in one view frame and also image the far side of Deimos.
The Mangalyaan mission, which was initially meant to last six months, completed five years of orbiting Mars and is likely to continue for some more time.
In the past five years, the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), India's first interplanetary endeavour, helped India's space agency prepare a Martian Atlas based on the images provided by the orbiter.

India International Science Festival to be held in Kolkata from November 5 to 8, 2019

The fifth edition of India International Science Festival (IISF) will be held in Kolkata from November 5-8, 2019, Science and Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan announced.
More than 12,000 participants, including 8,000 students, are expected to attend the event.
350 students will replicate the experiment of wireless communication conducted by Jagdish Chandra Bose.
The DST, Department of Biotechnology, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Indian Council of Medical Research and the Ministry of Earth Sciences are major government sponsoring bodies for the event.
It is being organised in collaboration with Vigynana Bharati, an RSS-linked scientific body.
The IISF will also hosts 28 different events such as Agriculture Scientists' Meet, Vigyan Samagam, Young Scientists Conference, Vigyanika-International Science Literature Festival, International Science Film Festival of India.

Students Invent Barcode-LED Based System To Locate Seats In Movie Theatres

Fumbling and moving across people to find a seat in a dark theatre is something every movie goer has experienced.
To save them of the annoyance, students of a private university have developed a 'locator system' that will use barcodes on tickets and LED lights on the floor to guide people to their seats.
The LEDs will have a colour specific to a ticket and light up once barcodes or QR codes are accessed or punched-in at a theatre's entry gate. The light will turn off automatically once a seat is occupied.
The system developed by a team at the Lovely Professional University (LPU) will require movie theatres to install LED strips or any other form of lights on the floor for the locator to function.

This positions QSTP as an engine that drives the implementation of research, development, and innovation for the national benefit and global impact.
QSTP was initiated as an entrepreneurial, venture funding culture, and all the associated facilities and systems to support such.

Australian Academy of Science welcomes Australia-US bilateral science and technology initiatives

The Australian Academy of Science welcomes a range of Australia–US bilateral science and technology initiatives announced by Prime Minister Scott Morrison during his meetings in Washington.
New initiatives will support NASA's mission to return to the moon and travel to Mars.
The initiatives include significant investment of $150 million into local Australian businesses, researchers and new technologies to support NASA's mission to return to the moon and travel to Mars, representing a boost for the Australian Space Agency.

Chandrayaan-2 Is 98% Successful, Gaganyaan Our Next Priority: ISRO Chief K Sivan

Chandryaan-2 has achieved 98 per cent of mission objectives and India's next space priority is the launch of crewed orbital spacecraft Gaganyaan by end of 2020, chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) K Sivan said.
In his inspiring address at the 8th convocation of IIT Bhubaneswar, Sivan said Gaganyaan is an extremely important mission for India as it will give the much-needed boost to science and technology besides making the country a space superpower.
