ISSO National Games begin at Jayshree Periwal International School in Jaipur

The prestigious ISSO National Games 2025–26 is underway in Jaipur. This platform serves as a key opportunity to enhance the spirit of youth sports at both national and international levels.
The event, running until September 22, is being hosted by Jayshree Periwal International School, Jaipur (JPIS).
This year, JPIS proudly takes the spotlight as the host for three thrilling categories — U-19 boys' football, U-17 boys' basketball, and U-17 girls' basketball — promising a showcase of skill, spirit, and sportsmanship.
With over 1000 student-athletes from more than 50 leading schools across India and abroad, the annual tournament promises intense competition and remarkable talent on display.

World Athletics Championships 2025 Final: Keshorn Walcott wins title

India's Sachin Yadav outshone Neeraj Chopra to finish fourth in the World Athletics Championships javelin throw final in September 2025.
Yadav came up with a personal best throw of 86.27m, and narrowly missed a podium finish.
Neeraj Chopra returned empty-handed. He could come up with a best throw of only 84.03m. It was even less than his qualification mark - 84.85m.
Since Tokyo Olympics in 2021, Neeraj Chopra has never returned without a medal from any event.
Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem, the reigning Olympic champion, finished 10th.
Trinidad and Tobago's Keshorn Walcott won the gold medal with a season best attempt of 88.16m, while Grenada's Anderson Peters was second with a best throw of 87.38m.
USA's Curtis Thompson was third with a best attempt of 86.67m.

Spinner Varun Chakaravarthy Becomes World No.1 Bowler in T20I

Spinner Varun Chakaravarthy became the World No one bowler in the ICC T20 international rankings.
The 34-year-old became the third Indian bowler to achieve this feat, after Jasprit Bumrah and Ravi Bishnoi. India's Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav have also moved up the rankings.
Patel is now at the 12th spot while the Kuldeep Yadav is now at the 16th spot, rising seven spots from his 23rd slot.
Chakaravarthy shown his class with a string of strong performances that has helped him overtake New Zealand pacer Jacob Duffy at the top of the T20I bowling rankings.

Samuel Umtiti Retires from Football at Age 31

In September 2025, Samuel Umtiti, the 2018 FIFA World Cup-winning French defender, officially announced his retirement from professional football.
Once regarded as one of the finest centre-backs in Europe, Umtiti's career was tragically derailed by chronic knee injuries that restricted his playing time and eventually forced an early exit from the sport.
The announcement was made via an emotional social media video, in which Umtiti expressed gratitude to the clubs and fans who supported him throughout his journey.
Umtiti began his professional career at Olympique Lyonnais, quickly established himself as a technically gifted, strong, and intelligent defender.
His performances earned him a high-profile transfer to FC Barcelona in 2016, where he initially flourished.
Umtiti's crowning achievement came during the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, where he formed a solid central defensive partnership with Raphaël Varane. He scored the winning goal in the semi-final against Belgium, helping France reach the final and eventually lift the trophy after defeating Croatia 4–2.

Apollo Tyres New Jersey Sponsor of Indian Cricket Team, Deal Worth Rs. 579 Crore

In 2025, Apollo Tyres acquired the jersey sponsorship rights of the Indian cricket team under a five-year agreement lasting until March 31, 2028.
The agreement covers around 140 matches, including bilateral series and International Cricket Council (ICC) events.
Apollo Tyres pays the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) approximately INR 4.5 crore for each bilateral match and INR 1.72 crore for each ICC match.
The overall value of the deal is estimated at around INR 579 crore.

Duleep Trophy 2025l: Central Zone Secures Title

Central Zone defeated South Zone by six wickets on the final day of their Duleep Trophy summit clash at the BCCI CoE Ground (1) in Bengaluru.
Needing 65 runs to lay claim to the title, Central lost four wickets but managed to reach the target in the morning session.
This was Central's first Duleep Trophy triumph since the Piyush Chawla-led side took top honours in the 2014-15 edition.
The 2025–26 Duleep Trophy was the 62^nd edition of the Duleep Trophy, a domestic first-class cricket competition played in India. It concluded on September 15, 2025.
The tournament returned to a zonal format, featuring six teams: Central Zone, East Zone, North Zone, North East Zone, South Zone, and West Zone. All squads were picked by national selectors.

Mohammed Siraj Named ICC Player of the Month of August

Mohammed Siraj won the ICC Men's Player of the Month accolade for August, 2025 for his persistent, match-winning spell against England in The Oval Test, which was the only match he was a part of, in the month.
An outstanding spell by Siraj, where he picked up nine wickets at an average of 21.11 across both innings, helped India to not just win the Test from a tricky situation but also made sure the well-fought series ended at 2-2.
The fast bowler was also named the Player of the Match in the final Test for his efforts, which included a five-wicket haul in second innings, bowling 46 overs in the Test.
The right-armer beat out opposition from New Zealand's Matt Henry and West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales for the monthly award.
Ireland's premier all-rounder Orla Prendergast was named as the ICC Women's Player of the Month for August 2025.
Prendergast edged out stern competition from Netherlands all-round counterpart Iris Zwilling and Pakistan wicket-keeper Muneeba Ali and claimed the honour.

FIDE Grand Swiss: Vaishali Makes History By Winning Title Again

Vaishali Rameshbabu won the FIDE Grand Swiss tournament in 2025 for the second time in two editions after drawing her final game against former women's world champion Tan Zhongyi on Monday.
Vaishali winning the title is historic because no player in the short history of the event has won the Grand Swiss twice.
Even more significantly, Vaishali's win helped her secure a Candidates spot, thus making her the third woman to qualify for the Candidates along with Koneru Humpy and Divya Deshmukh.

India's Minakshi Hooda, Jaismine Lamboria Clinch Gold Medals at World Boxing Championships 2025

India's Minakshi Hooda and Jaismine Lamboria clinched gold medals at the World Boxing Championships 2025 held at the Liverpool Arena in Liverpool, England.
Meenakshi Hooda defeated Nazym Kyzaibay in the 48 kg category today, and Jaismine Lamboria outclassed Paris Olympics silver medallist Julia Szeremeta of Poland in the 57kg final clash.
With their victories, Jaismine and Minakshi joined an illustrious list of Indian world champions featuring six-time winner Mary Kom, two-time champion Nikhat Zareen, Sarita Devi, Jenny RL, Lekha KC, Nitu Ghanghas, Lovlina Borgohain and Saweety Boora.
In the championship held at Liverpool in England, India ended with four medals, the best-ever in an overseas edition.

Amit Shah Inaugurates India's Largest Sports Complex in Ahmedabad's Naranpura

In 2025, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah inaugurated the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex, constructed at a cost of about Rs. 825 crore, at Naranpura, Ahmedabad.
On this occasion, Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Mansukh Mandaviya, Gujarat Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi, along with many other dignitaries were present.
Amit Shah said that the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex is the largest in India and among the most modern sports complexes in the world.
The complex features a world-class aquatic complex and state-of-the-art facilities for indoor and outdoor sports, along with training and residential amenities for athletes.

India's Anandkumar Velkumar Wins Country's First-Ever Senior Medal at Speed Skating World Champio...

India's Anandkumar Velkumar made history by winning country's first-ever senior medal at the Speed Skating World Championships, claiming bronze in the 500m+ D sprint.
The achievement came just weeks after he won another bronze in the 1000m sprint at the World Games in Chengdu, China, also a first for India.
Velkumar has been steadily rising on the international stage. He first gained attention in 2021 with a silver at the Junior World Championships.
With two historic bronzes in a month, his success marked a breakthrough for Indian speed skating and signals a bright future for the sport in the country.
