Quinton de Kock Reverses ODI Retirement; Returns to White-ball Squads for Pakistan Series

South African keeper-batter Quinton de Kock did a U-turn on his ODI retirement, returning to the white-ball squad for the away Pakistan series.
Having retired from the ODIs following the conclusion of South Africa's 2023 ODI WC campaign, de Kock continued playing the shortest format.
He last featured for the Proteas during the 2024 T20 World Cup in the Americas, where India beat South Africa in the final in Barbados.
While veteran David Miller will captain the T20I side, emerging batting sensation Matthew Breetzke will lead the One-Day team. On the other hand, Aiden Markram will captain the Test team in Temba Bavuma's absence, who misses out due to a calf strain.

World Athletics Championships: Lilian Odira Wins Astonishing 800m to Break 42-year-old Record

Kenya's Lilian Odira produced a storming finish to win an astonishing women's 800 metres world gold in September 2025, smashing her personal best by almost two seconds and erasing the 42-year-old championship record.
Odira looked out of it with 30 metres to go but surged past two Britons leading the race to win in one minute, 54.62 seconds, beating the mark set by Czech Jarmila Kratochvilova at the first world championships in 1983.

KL Rahul Becomes Co-owner of Goa Guardians in Prime Volleyball League

Indian cricketer KL Rahul became the co-owner of the Goa Guardians franchise ahead of the fourth season of the Prime Volleyball League to be held from October 2 to 26 in Hyderabad.
As the co-owner, Rahul wants to give volleyball the recognition it deserves.

Dronacharya Awardee Koneru Ashok inaugurated the 62nd National Chess Championship held at Vignan University in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh in 2025.
The event is being organised under the aegis of the Andhra Chess Association (ACA) and the All India Chess Federation (AICF) and conclude on 1st October.

Satwik-Chirag Pair Finishes Runner-up at China Masters 2025

Indian men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty finished runner-up at a BWF World Tour event for the second week in a row, losing to World No. 1 Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae in the China Masters Super 750's final in Shenzhen in 2025.
Koreans Kim and Seo, the reigning world champions, defeated the eighth-seeded Indian duo 21-19, 21-15 in 45 minutes.

Anandkumar Velkumar Scripts History with Marathon Gold at World Championships

Anandkumar Velkumar pulled off yet another unforgettable feat for Indian sport, this time winning gold in the marathon event at the Speed Skating World Championships in Beidaihe, China.
The 22-year-old finished first in the gruelling 42km race, adding another glittering chapter to what has already been a dream tournament for him.
This latest triumph follows his earlier medal haul at the same championships, where he claimed gold in the 1000m and bronze in the 500m.

Uttarakhand Hosts Asian Cadet Cup 2025 & State CM Inaugurated

Uttarakhand marked a historic moment in Indian sports by hosting the Asian Cadet Cup India-2025 in Haldwani, inaugurated by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in September 2025.
Organised by the Fencing Association of India, the international tournament is being held at Manaskhand Hall in the Indira Gandhi International Sports Stadium.
This is the first-ever international fencing event held in India, drawing participation from over 250 athletes, including 150 Indian competitors, as well as teams from countries like Tajikistan, Syria, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Indonesia.
