Birdwatchers in Australia have spotted an Australian night parrot, which was thought to be extinct after a gap of 100 years.
The sighting of the night parrot, a small nocturnal bird native to Australia, came three years after the bird was declared extinct.

Penguins in Antarctic Region
According to a study, the Antarctic continent harbours nearly 6 million penguins, that is 3.6 million more than what was estimated earlier.
Of the 16 Antarctic Specially Protected Areas in the study region, eight contain breeding Adelie penguins, encompassing about 10 per cent of the breeding age population.
An estimated 193,500 tonnes of krill and 18,800 tonnes of fish are eaten during the breeding season by Adelie penguins breeding in East Antarctica.

Archaeological Remains Unearthed
An excavation carried out in the Narmada valley at Mehtakhedi village under Khargone district, has given rise to the discovery of 350 archaeological remains which the experts claim to be 50,000 years old.
The work to explore micro relics was being carried out by dissolving and filtering the soil obtained from the excavation.
The excavation work was started in the second week of February.

World's Oldest Crocodile Eggs Discovered
Researchers have discovered the world`s oldest crocodilian eggs that they believe were laid almost 152 million years ago.
The eggs, discovered in cliffs in Portugal, were laid by close relatives of "true" crocodiles, a group called crocodylomorphs.
The fact that they are from the Late Jurassic period makes these eggs the oldest crocodilian eggs known so far.

UK Carbon Emissions Drop
The UK’s carbon dioxide emissions have fallen to their lowest level since the 19th century as coal use continues to plummet.
Emissions of the major greenhouse gas fell almost 6% year-on-year in 2016.
Emissions of carbon dioxide from coal fell 50% in 2016 as use of the fossil fuel dropped by 52%.
The assessment suggests carbon emissions in 2016 were about 381m tonnes, putting the UK’s carbon pollution at its lowest level.
