Researchers have warned that Arctic ice loss could lead to harsher winters and stormier weather in Europe because of its impact on Atlantic Ocean currents.
The research found that a decline in sea ice cover caused by global warming could weaken the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) -- a large-scale ocean circulation system that affects climate.
AMOC is responsible for transporting heat from low to high latitudes.

Indian Ocean Level
Recent studies by Indian scientists had revealed that the trend of sea level rise in the north Indian Ocean is slightly higher than the global estimate of 3.2 mm per year.
The possibility of sea level rise in the next ten years is about 3.2 cm in the north Indian Ocean, if the sea level acceleration remains similar.
Over the period of 100 years, between 1901 to 2010, the global mean sea level had risen by 19 cms or 0.19 meters.

Sea Level Fears as Greenland Darkens
Dark ice absorbs more solar radiation than clean white ice so warms up and melts more rapidly.
Currently the Greenland ice sheet is adding up to 1mm a year to the rise in the global average level of the oceans.
It is the largest mass of ice in the northern hemisphere covering an area about seven times the size of the United Kingdom and reaching up to 3km (2 miles) in thickness.
This means that the average sea level would rise around the world by about seven metres, more than 20 ft, if it all melted.

Coral Reefs in the Gulf of Aqaba
Scientists have urged governments to protect the Gulf of Aqaba Reef, as coral reefs in the Red Sea’s Gulf of Aqaba can resist rising water temperatures. If they survive local pollution, these corals may one day be used to re-seed parts of the world where reefs are dying.
Coral reefs are dying on a massive scale around the world, and global warming is driving this extinction. The planet’s largest reef, Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, is currently experiencing enormous coral bleaching for the second year in a row.
