Pakistan Moves T20 League

  • The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) elected to relocate the remainder of this year's (2025) Pakistan Super League (PSL) to the United Arab Emirates, amid the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
  • The PCB announced that all remaining fixtures of PSL X, the tenth edition of the Board's flagship T20 tournament, were moved to the UAE, with the exact schedule of matches, including dates and venues, to be shared in due course.

Korean Compound Men's Team Breaks World Record in Shanghai

  • South Korean compound team broke the compound men's team match world record at Shanghai 2025, during the second stage of the 2025 Hyundai Archery World Cup.
  • In their first-round matchup against Macao China, Kim Jongho, Choi Eun Gyu and Choi Yonghee hit the 10-ring with 100 percent accuracy – 24 10s out of 24 arrows – becoming the first team in history to complete a perfect match.
  • The record was previously held by the USA's Jesse Broadwater, Braden Gellenthien and compound legend Reo Dee Wilde, who shot just one shy at 239 during the Turin 2011 World Archery Championships.

Rohit Sharma Announces Retirement from Test Cricket

  • Rohit Sharma, one of India's most accomplished batters and the current red-ball captain, has officially announced his retirement from Test cricket. This decision, made just ahead of the highly anticipated India vs England Test series, marks the end of a roller-coaster journey in the longest format of the game. Rohit, who made his Test debut in 2013, leaves behind a legacy marked by resilience, reinvention, and leadership.
  • He took over Test captaincy in 2022 after Virat Kohli stepped down.
  • Led India through series wins but also suffered major defeats, notably against New Zealand and Australia.
  • His leadership was praised for stability, though questioned during away performances.

FC Goa Clinch Second Kalinga Super Cup Title

  • FC Goa defeated Jamshedpur FC with a 3-0 win and clinched the 2025 Kalinga Super Cup title at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
  • The victory marked FC Goa's first trophy under head coach Manolo Marquez, whose chapter at the club came to an end in the perfect manner. It was Goa's second Super Cup title overall, making them the first club to win the tournament twice.

China Clinches 14th Sudirman Cup Title

  • China extended its supremacy in world badminton by clinching the Sudirman Cup 2025, defeating South Korea 3-1 in the final held in Xiamen, China.
  • The Sudirman Cup is the World Mixed Team Badminton Championship, organised by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).
  • China has now won 14 out of the 18 editions, showcasing its sustained excellence.

  • Pro Panja League, in collaboration with the People's Armwrestling Federation of India, announced that India is hosting the prestigious 23rd Asian Armwrestling Championship and the 22nd Asian Para-Armwrestling Championship in New Delhi from May 6 to 10.
  • The high-profile tournament features top athletes from fourteen countries, including India, Iran, Japan, Philippines, Thailand, South Korea, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Nepal and Jordan.

Zhao Xintong Becomes China's First World Snooker Champion

  • Zhao Xintong became the first Chinese player to win the World Snooker Championship as the qualifier completed his stunning march to the title with a 18-12 victory against Mark Williams in the final.

Aryna Sabalenka Lift Third Madrid Open Title

  • World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka won a record-equalling Madrid Open title, defeating the USA's Coco Gauff 6-3, 7-6 (3) in the final.
  • With the win, Sabalenka equalled Petra Kvitova's record of three titles in Madrid, and secured her 20th career title.

  • She clocked 8 minutes 4.12 seconds at the Tyr Pro Series meet in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to better her previous mark of 8:04.79 which she set at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Riyan Parag Hits 6 Sixes in a Row

  • Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag entered record books by hitting six consecutive sixes against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens in the 2025 Indian Premier League.
  • Parag took it upon himself to single-handedly and brought the Royals back into the competition, hitting Moeen Ali for six back-to-back sixes in the 13th over of the game.

Oscar Piastri Wins Miami Grand Prix

  • Oscar Piastri made it a hat-trick of wins with victory in the Miami Grand Prix as McLaren enjoyed a one-two on the podium to continue their dominant Formula One season.
  • Australian Piastri finished 4.6 seconds ahead of British team-mate Lando Norris with George Russell of Mercedes finishing third but 37.6 seconds behind.
