Astronomers have discovered one of the most distant galaxies in the universe that belongs to about 13.1 billion years in the past, a period just 700 million years after the Big Bang.
These ultra distant galaxies, seen as they were close to the beginning of the universe, are interesting because they fall within the "Epoch of Reionisation," a period about a billion years after the Big Bang when the universe became transparent.

Ultrafast Flexible and Transparent Memory Device
Scientists have developed the quickest, smallest, highest-capacity memory device that could pave the way for the next generation of flexible and transparent electronics.
The new memory devices may also have the potential to offer a cheaper and more adaptable alternative to 'flash memory', which is currently used in many common devices such as memory cards, graphics cards and USB computer drives.
ISRO Embraces Private Sector
The Indian space establishment has crossed a new threshold, engaging for the first time a private sector industry to make a full multi-crore, heavy duty satellite.
Having been unable to keep pace with satellite fabrication, ISRO has now roped in the private industry to bridge the gap.
A consortium led by Alpha Design Technologies, Bengaluru is tasked to make two full satellites for India's navigation system.
After almost 150 missions and three decades of space faring, the ISRO is on a mission like never before, handholding the private industry to make a full navigation satellite.

Neptune-sized Lost Planet Discovered
Astronomers have discovered a lost planet which they claim is about the size of Neptune about 3,000 light years from Earth.
The new planet, Kepler-150 f, was overlooked for several years.
Kepler-150 f takes 637 days to circle its sun.
The Kepler Mission found four other planets in the Kepler-150 system - Kepler-150 b, c, d, and e - several years ago. All of them have orbits much closer to their sun than the new planet does.

SpaceX Set to Launch Used Rocket
Traditionally, rockets are one-use only - all the elements of the vehicle are discarded in getting a satellite payload into orbit.
But SpaceX has become adept at landing its boosters safely back on Earth after a mission.
Now, the firm is ready to put one of these "flight proven" vehicles on the launch pad again.
Re-using stages is part of SpaceX's strategy to lower the cost of access to space.

Stopwatch with High Measuring Ability
Scientists at NASA have developed a stopwatch timer that can measure within a fraction of a billionth of a second. This is an advance that can help record precise height measurements of sea ice, glaciers, forests and the rest of the Earth's surfaces.
Engineers at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Centre built the timer for the Ice, Cloud and land Elevation Satellite-2 (ICESat-2) scheduled to launch in 2018, which will use six green laser beams to measure height.
