Exoplanets Where Life Could Develop

Scientists have identified a group of exoplanets located outside our solar system, where the same chemical conditions that may have led to life on Earth exist.
In the newly identified range of planets, the UV light from their host star is sufficient to allow the chemical reactions to take place, and that also lie within the habitable range where liquid water can exist on the planet's surface.

Software for Editing Text on Scanned Images

The IT ministry launched a desktop software e-Aksharayan to enable editing of text printed on scanned documents and it can be downloaded for free from its website.
e-Aksharayan is a desktop software for converting scanned printed Indian language documents into a fully editable text format in Unicode encoding. The software supports editing in seven Indian languages - Hindi, Bangla, Malayalam, Gurmukhi, Tamil, Kannada and Assamese.

Liquid Water on Mars

Researchers have found evidence of an existing body of liquid water on Mars.
What they believe to be a lake sits under the planet's south polar ice cap, and is about 20 km (12 miles) across.
Previous research found possible signs of intermittent liquid water flowing on the martian surface, but this is the first sign of a persistent body of water on the planet in the present day.

Man's First Mission to Sun

NASA is on schedule to launch mankind's first mission to the Sun, a car sized probe that will swoop to within 4 million miles of the solar surface, facing heat and radiation like no spacecraft before.
The Parker Solar Probe, which is expected to take off no earlier than August 6 aboard United Launch Alliance Delta IV Heavy, will study the Sun closer than any human-made object ever has.

New Moons Discovered Circling Around Jupiter

A team of astronomers has reported the discovery of a dozen new moons circling the Jupiter bringing the number of moons circling the giant gas planet to 79. Saturn is the closest with 61 moons circling it.
