Japanese Spacecraft Makes Final Touchdown on Asteroid

A Japanese spacecraft touched down on a faraway asteroid, where it would collect space rock that may hold clues to how the Solar System evolved.
It is the second touchdown for the robotic Hayabusa-2 craft, which grabbed rocks from the asteroid in February 2019.
Hayabusa-2 is due to bring the specimens back to Earth in 2020.

Bahubali Gearing up for Moon

India's heavy lift rocket Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle - Mark III (GSLV Mk III), nicknamed as 'Bahubali', and its passenger Chandrayaan-2 were being readied up for their historic flight to the Moon on July 15, 2019.
Preparations are going at a hectic pace at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota for the July 15, 2019 early morning launch at 2.51 a.m.

Microsoft Signs up Providence Hospital Chain

Microsoft Corp. signed Providence St. Joseph Health as a customer of its Azure and artificial intelligence tools to help the hospital chain track electronic health data such as surgery outcomes and cancer therapies.
Providence, which operates hospitals in seven U.S. states, would shift data and applications from its own data centers to Microsoft's cloud as part of the five-year agreement. The company's 119,000 doctors and caregivers would also get access to Microsoft's Office productivity software and its Teams chat service.
Microsoft is wooing health-care and retail companies to try to catch Amazon.com Inc., the largest provider of cloud computing services. This latest deal is also an attempt to use rented data storage, computing power and AI software to modernise hospitals. Tech companies have long promised that digitising health records would improve patient care, but progress has been halting. The bet now is that aggregating clinical data in the cloud will finally help deliver on this promise.

NASA Tests Launch-abort System

NASA carried out a successful test of a launch-abort system for a capsule designed to take US astronauts to the moon.
The test was carried out at Cape Canaveral in Florida.
The exercise aimed to test in almost real-life conditions the evacuation of astronauts from the Orion capsule in the event of an explosion or other problem shortly after launch of the rocket taking them into space.

HP Launches Dual Screen Gaming Laptop

To tap the growing demand for gaming PCs in the country, HP launched the world's first dual-screen gaming laptop, Omen X 2S, in India with a price tag of almost Rs. 2.1 lakh.
The dual-screen would allow players to message friends on WhatsApp, browse in Spotify, watch Twitch, YouTube, and serve as a hub for Omen Command Centre software.
It would also enable gamers to copy the map portion of a racing game to the second screen.

NASA to Explore Saturn's Moon Titan

The US space agency NASA announced that it would launch a spacecraft in 2026 to explore the richly organic world of Titan, an analogue to the very early Earth.
A rotorcraft called "Dragonfly" would arrive at the Saturn`s moon in 2034, looking for prebiotic chemical processes common on both Titan and Earth, which may lend clues to how life may have arisen on Earth.
Titan, the second largest moon in the solar system, is an icy world whose surface is completely obscured by a nitrogen-based golden atmosphere, four times denser than Earth`s.
