NASA's Cassini spacecraft has spotted a huge sea on Saturn's moon Titan which is composed mostly of pure liquid methane. The sea, called Ligeia Mare, has a surface area of about 126,000 sq. km.
There are three large seas, all located close to the moon's North Pole, surrounded by numerous of smaller lakes in the northern hemisphere. Just one large lake has been found in the southern hemisphere.

Carbon Dioxide Making Earth Greener
A new research shows that the earth is getting greener because of higher carbon dioxide (CO2) levels in the atmosphere.
Observations over the past 33 years show that there has been a steady increase in leaves on plants and trees.
The amount of CO2 in the air has been increasing since the industrial age and currently stands at a level not seen in at least half-a-million years.

New State of Water Molecule Discovered
Scientists have discovered a new state of water molecule.
This discovery reveals that water molecules tunnel in ultra-small hexagonal channels (measuring only 5 angstrom across) of the mineral beryl. Basically, this means the molecules spread out when they are trapped in confined spaces, taking a new shape entirely.
The tunneling state of water breaks the rules of known fundamentals seen in gas, liquid, or solid state. The discovery describes the behaviour of water molecules present in tightly confined areas such as cell walls, soils and rocks.

Interstellar Dust Detected for First Time
NASA's Cassini spacecraft orbiting Saturn has detected and analysed the faint but distinct signature of interstellar dust coming from beyond our solar system.
The tiny dust grains were speeding through the Saturn system at over 72,000 km per hour.
The composition of the dust has been analysed for the first time, showing it to be made of a very specific mixture of minerals not ice.

Kepler Enters Emergency Mode
This is the second time that Kepler spacecraft has placed itself in emergency mode.
NASA received a transmission that Kepler had entered emergency mode.
Kepler spacecraft which is now on its extended mission K2 was launched in 2009 with the goal of finding candidate planets outside our solar system. It achieved major success in 2012 for discovering nearly 5,000 exoplanets.
