Minister Singh extended an invitation to all participating countries to attend Bharat Tex 2025, scheduled to take place in Delhi from February 14-17, 2025. This event aims to further explore investment opportunities and showcase India's expanding textile industry.
Prime Minister Modi Inaugurates Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025, the largest mobility expo in India, which is expected to witness over 100 new launches across automobiles, component products and technologies.
The five-day expo, which concludes on January 22, is being held across three venues: Bharat Mandapam and Yashobhoomi in the national capital and India Expo Centre and Mart, Greater Noida.
Expo will host over 9 concurrent shows, 20+ conferences and pavilions. In addition, the Expo will also feature states sessions to showcase policies and initiatives in the mobility sector to enable collaboration between industry and regional levels.

Star Australia all-rounder Annabel Sutherland was named the ICC Women's Player of the Month for December 2024.
Annabel Sutherland shone brightly for Australia in December 2024, playing a pivotal role as her team remained unbeaten across five ODIs – three against India and two against New Zealand. Her exceptional performances earned her three Player of the Match awards and the Player of the Series title for both series.
Sutherland beat the other nominees - India's Smriti Mandhana and South Africa's Nonkululeko Mlaba.
Vineet Joshi Takes Charge as Secretary of Higher Education
Vineet Joshi assumed the role of Secretary of the Department of Higher Education in the Ministry of Education, effective at Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi. Prior to this appointment, Joshi had a distinguished career in various key positions within the Indian educational sector. His vast experience in managing education-related initiatives is expected to bring significant improvements to India's higher education landscape.
Joshi served as Chief Secretary of the state of Manipur before this new role.
Previously he was Director-General of the National Testing Agency (NTA), Chairman of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Education.
Ministry of Defence (MoD) Signs a Contract with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL)
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) signed a contract with Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) for the supply of Medium-Range Surface-to-Air Missiles (MRSAM) for the Indian Navy at a cost of approximately Rs. 2,960 crore.
The agreement was inked in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh in New Delhi.
The MRSAM system, a high-response, quick-reaction, vertically launched supersonic missile, is designed to neutralise enemy aerial threats, including missiles, aircraft, guided bombs, and helicopters.
It is already in use by the Army, Navy, and Air Force in various configurations. The system has a range of up to 70 km.
The missiles will be supplied under the 'Buy (Indian)' category, with significant indigenous content.
Arjun Ram Meghwal Distributes Prizes of 25th National Youth Parliament Competition, 2023-24
The Prize Distribution Function of the 25th National Youth Parliament Competition, 2023-24 for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas was held in January, 2025 at GMC Balayogi Auditorium, Parliament Library Building, Parliament House Complex, New Delhi.
The Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Law and Justice; and Minister of State in the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Arjun Ram Meghwal, presided over the function and distributed the prizes to the winning teams of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas for their meritorious performance in the Competition.
Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has been organising Youth Parliament Competitions in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas for the past 28 years. Under the scheme of National Youth Parliament Competition for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, the 25th Competition in the series was organised during 2023-24 among 80 Vidyalayas spread over 8 regions of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, all over India.
In the function, Running Shield and Trophy for standing first at the National Level in the 25th Competition was awarded to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Chandrapur, Maharashtra (Pune Region) by the Minister. Apart from JNV Chandrapur, Maharashtra, the following 7 regional winning Vidyalayas also received prizes from the Minister.
Justice Arindam Sinha Appointed as Acting Chief Justice of Orissa High Court
The Centre notified the appointment of Justice Arindam Sinha, the senior-most Judge of Orissa High Court as its Acting Chief Justice. The move cames as the present Chief Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh retired on January 19, 2025.
He was enrolled as an Advocate in March 1991 and practised for 22 years mostly before the Calcutta High Court. He predominantly practised Civil, Commercial, Arbitration and Constitutional laws and specialised in Civil laws.
He was elevated to the Calcutta High Court as an Additional Judge in October 2013 and was appointed as a permanent Judge in March 2016. Subsequently, he was transferred and took oath as Judge of the Orissa High Court in October 2021.
