Exporters Raise Declining Bank Credit at Board of Trade Meet
Exporters raised the issue of 'declining bank credit' to exporters at the Board of Trade (BoT) meeting that held in Mumbai along with other problems faced by them due to disruption in global logistics and emerging demand situation.
The BoT was the forum to raise the issue of declining credit to the export sector as it saw participation of Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of India, officials from Department of Financial Services and bankers, Director General and Chief Executive Officer of Federation of Indian Export Organisations Ajay Sahai said.
The board, which is headed by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, has secretaries from Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, shipping, road transport and highways, revenue, agriculture, MSMEs, economic affairs and civil aviation.
Tata Electronics, TCS to Develop India's First Domestic Chips by 2026
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is collaborating with Tata Electronics Pvt Ltd, as the conglomerate aims to introduce India's first domestically produced chips by 2026.
Tata Electronics aims to have the first chips from the Assam facility available by late 2025 or early 2026, targetting industries such as automotive, electronics, power, consumer goods, and healthcare.
It is after four long decades that Kashmir Valley will be witnessing International Cricket Matches. Indian and International cricketing stars will be playing cricket in the Valley after almost half a century during the final leg of the Legends League Cricket. The series would kick-start on September 20 in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
Srinagar would be hosting over 100 international cricket stars in October for the Legends League Cricket. Ronaldo, who plays professional football for Al-Nassr club in Saudi Arabia, has 639 million followers on Instagram, about 170.5 million followers on Facebook and 113 million on X. Ronaldo's YouTube channel has reached 50 million subscribers within a week. The football star shared the milestone on X after he breached the historic 1 billion mark across the all social media platforms.
The Portugal football star is far ahead of Argentina football captain and FC Barcelona legend Lionel Messi and Brazil's Neymar.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Inaugurates 2nd Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference
Union Minister for Civil Aviation, Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, inaugurated the 2nd Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Civil Aviation (APMC) at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The event witnessed the participation of Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, Murlidhar Mohol, President of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Mr. Salvatore Sciacchitano, and Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Vumlunmang Vualnam, along with Directors General and distinguished delegates from 29 countries from the Asia-Pacific region.

National Health Authority and IIT Kanpur Sign MoU
The National Health Authority (NHA) and IIT Kanpur signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of Union Health Secretary Apurva Chandra. The partnership aims to revolutionise Artificial Intelligence in health research with an innovative data platform.
A federated learning platform across a variety of machine learning model pipelines, a quality-preserving database, an open benchmarking platform for comparing & validating AI models, and a consent management system for research under Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) would be developed by IIT Kanpur.
The platform will subsequently be operated and governed by NHA, thereby unlocking the immense potential of AI for improving health outcomes.
ABDM aims to establish a robust digital health ecosystem through active collaboration between public and private sectors.
It also aims to integrate various healthcare entities—hospitals, clinics, labs, pharmacies, health insurance companies, and more to improve patient care, accessibility, and affordability.
Indian Air Force Contingent to Participate in Bilateral Military Exercise in Oman
A contingent of the Indian Air Force (IAF), including MiG-29s, Jaguars and C-27s, is taking part in the bilateral 'Exercise Eastern Bridge' in Oman.
The bilateral exercise, taking place at the Air Force base in Oman's Masirah, will enhance the interoperability between the Royal Oman Air Force and the IAF. The exercise will end on September 22.
It will also provide a platform for both teams to engage in a series of joint training missions designed to strengthen strategic cooperation and operational readiness.
The seventh edition of the exercise aims to improve tactical and operational skills, foster mutual understanding and bolster the ability of both air forces to collaborate effectively in diverse scenarios.

Hindi Diwas has been celebrated annually since 1953, honouring and promoting the Hindi language and its role in India's cultural and national identity.
Five Successful Years of Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana (PM-KMY)
Launched on September 12, 2019, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojna (PM-KMY) has provided social security to land-holding Small and Marginal Farmers (SMFs) across India. This voluntary and contributory old-age pension scheme offers a fixed monthly pension of Rs. 3,000 to eligible farmers after they turn sixty. Farmers contribute monthly to the pension fund, with matching contributions from the central government.
Under PM-KMY, small and marginal farmers can enroll by paying a monthly subscription to the pension fund. Those aged between 18 and 40 years contribute between Rs. 55 to Rs. 200 per month until age 60. Upon reaching 60, they receive a monthly pension of Rs. 3,000, subject to exclusion criteria. The Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) manages the fund, and registration is facilitated through Common Service Centres (CSCs) and State Governments. As of August 6, 2024, 23.38 lakh farmers have joined the scheme, with Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha showing significant uptake.
Government Approves MBBS Programmes at 5 New Medical Colleges in Uttar Pradesh (14)
The Union Health Ministry approved the commencement of MBBS programmes at five newly established medical colleges in Uttar Pradesh. Additionally, seat capacity at medical colleges in Kanpur Dehat and Lalitpur were increased from 50 to 100. This move is part of efforts to expand medical education and healthcare infrastructure in the state.
This has led to the addition of 600 new MBBS seats, raising the total number of new seats in the state to 1,200 for the 2024-25 academic session.
Tenure of Arbitral Tribunal Can Be Extended Even After Expiry of Its Term
The Supreme Court held the fixed tenure of an arbitral tribunal to pass an award can be extended even after the expiry of term, saying the courts must strive to give "meaningful life" to a law to "avoid cadaveric consequences" leading to "unworkable scenarios".
The top court was dealing with conflicting judgements on the issue by several High Courts. Few High Courts, including the Calcutta High Court, while interpreting the provisions of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, had held that an application for extension of time can only be entertained if it is filed before expiry of the tenure or mandate of the arbitral tribunal.
