Former Cricketer Ajay Jadeja Declared Heir to Jamnagar Royal Throne
The maharaja of the erstwhile princely state of Nawanagar, known as Jamnagar, in Gujarat, declared his nephew and former cricketer Ajay Jadeja as his heir to the throne on the auspicious day of Dussehra.
The former cricketer, who played 196 ODIs and 15 test matches for India between 1992 and 2000, is a descendant of the Jamnagar royal family.
Maharaja of Jamnagar Shatrusalyasinh Jadeja is the cousin of Daulatsinghji Jadeja, the cricketer's father, a three-time Member of Parliament from Jamnagar from 1971 to 1984.
Centre Revokes President's Rule in J&K as UT Braces for New Govt
The Centre issued a notification, informing that President's rule was revoked in Jammu and Kashmir before the appointment of the Chief Minister.
In an order, issued the President of India Droupadi Murmu, said, "In exercise of the powers conferred by section 73 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019 (34 of 2019) read with articles 239 and 239A of the Constitution of India, the Order dated the 31st October, 2019 in relation to the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir shall stand revoked immediately before the appointment of the Chief Minister under section 54 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019."
In 2018, then President Ram Nath Kovind imposed President's rule in the state after it had completed six months under Governor's rule. Kovind signed the proclamation for imposition of Central rule in the state, which plunged into a political crisis in June after the Mehbooba Mufti-led coalition government collapsed.

Kerala Assembly Passes Motion Opposing BJP's 'One Nation, One Poll' Proposal
The Kerala Assembly passed a resolution, opposing the 'One Nation, One Election' proposal in a significant pushback against the central government.
The resolution was moved by the southern Indian state's parliamentary affairs minister, MB Rajesh on behalf of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who was absent due to health reasons.
The support for the motion was unanimous as the opposition, led by Mannarkad MLA N. Samsudheen, granted his full support.
With the passing of the resolution, Kerala became the first state to oppose the move. Apart from Kerala, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin - both part of the INDIA bloc, have voiced concerns against the proposal.

Omar Abdullah Elected NC Legislature Party Leader
In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, the Vice President of the National Conference, Omar Abdullah, was unanimously elected as the Legislature Party Leader today. After emerging as the single largest party with 42 elected MLAs, the National Conference held its legislature party meeting in Srinagar to discuss government formation with its pre-poll alliance partners, Congress and CPI (M). Four winning independent candidates also joined the National Conference during the meeting.
Omar Abdullah said that the National Conference is waiting for a formal letter of support from the Congress party, after which he will approach the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, and stake a claim to government formation.

Manipur Cabinet to Restrict Govt. Schemes for Unrecognised Villages
The Manipur cabinet approved the decision of the state to restrict providing government schemes to unrecognised villages.
A state cabinet meeting was held chaired by the Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh.
The move came amid the state's move seeking information from the district authority concerned to furnish information regarding the number of villages, both recognised and unrecognised, along with the number of households since 1946.
Mindfulness India Summit Scheduled for Oct. 17-18
The third edition of the annual Mindfulness India Summit will be held on October 17 and 18 in Mumbai.
The summit aims to equip leaders and professionals with essential strategies to create healthier, more empathetic work environments.
Organised by the Mindful Science Centre and led by global mindfulness expert Manish Behl, the summit will explore mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and neuroscience. Supported by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and with The Hindu as media partner, the summit will bring together over 30 international experts in these fields. Keynote speakers include renowned figures such as Sara Lazar and Chris Germer from Harvard Medical School, Emma Seppälä from Yale University, and U.K. politician Chris Ruane.
The summit's theme, 'Thrive in the Age of Disruption', stresses the need for leaders to adopt mindfulness as a critical skill for navigating today's complex business landscape.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Indian Institute of Skills (IIS) in Mumbai, aiming to enhance youth employability and create an industry-ready workforce for Industry 4.0. The IIS, built on a 4-acre campus at the National Skill Training Institute, focuses on cutting-edge technologies like factory automation, AI, data analytics, and additive manufacturing.
Established under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) between the Ministry of Skill Development and Tata IIS, it emphasises aligning Indian youth's skills with global standards. The event also marked the launch of several development projects in Maharashtra worth over Rs. 7600 crore.
Two Independent MLAs Join BJP after Party's Big Win in Haryana Elections
A day after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won a majority in Assembly elections in the Indian state of Haryana, two independent Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), joined the saffron outfit in a big boost for the ruling party.
Devender Kadyan and Rajesh Joon joined the BJP at Union Minister and Haryana in-charge Dharmendra Pradhan's house in the presence of state BJP chief Mohan Lal Badoli. Kadyan had won from Ganaur as an Independent, while Joon defeated his BJP rival to secure victory in Bahadurgarh.
