Over 200 people were killed and nearly 500 injured in a series of blasts that shook Sri Lanka. Churches and luxury hotels were targeted in the deadliest incidents since the civil war ended a decade ago.
As many as eight blasts occurred in and around the capital Colombo and in the eastern city of Batticaloa, as large groups gathered at churches for Easter services.
As per reports, most of the blasts appeared to have been suicide bombings.
No group has claimed responsibility for the blasts. Investigating authorities in Sri Lanka are yet to disclose the names of the suspects or the alleged perpetrators.
Supreme Court Extends President Ghani's Term
Afghanistan's Supreme Court has extended the term of President Ashraf Ghani until delayed elections take place, resolving for now the question of what would happen after his term expires on May 22.
Presidential elections were initially slated for April 20, but Afghan poll officials were unprepared for a new nationwide vote so soon after October parliamentary elections.

The 41-year-old performer's bid started out as a long shot but, on the back of popular discontent with the political class, he sent establishment candidates tumbling.

Canada's Brookfield Asset Management Inc. is in talks to buy a majority stake in Hyderabad-based Mytrah Energy as the alternative assets manager looks to make its first renewable investment of more than $1 billion in India.
The stake sale could be valued at more than $1 billion, reaching up to nearly $1.5 billion given the size of Mytrah's portfolio. Mytrah has a portfolio of around 1.6 megawatts (GW).
If successful, the BrookfieldMytrah deal will also be the largest transaction in the Indian renewable space in terms of size of the portfolio.
Tata May Revive Bid to Buy Jet Airways
The Tata group may revive an attempt to buy Jet Airways (India) Ltd. if lenders to the grounded airline fail to find a buyer and are forced to drag the carrier to a bankruptcy court.
Last year, the Tata Group had withdrawn from talks to buy the ailing airline once it became clear that Jet Airways founder Naresh Goyal was unwilling to cede control and had opened parallel negotiations with existing investor Etihad Airways PJSC of Abu Dhabi for a potential equity infusion. As part of its initial interest, the Tata Group had inspected the books and assets of Jet Airways last November.
SpiceJet and Emirates Sign MoU
Budget carrier Spicejet announced signing of an initial pact for code share partnership with Gulf carrier Emirates.
The reciprocal partnership will allow opening of new routes and destinations for passengers of the two airlines.
SpiceJet passengers from 51 domestic destinations would be able to access Emirates' network across the US, Europe, Africa and Middle East.
Code-sharing allows an airline to book its passengers on its partner carriers and provide seamless travel to destinations where it has no presence.

Sixth Santosh Title for Services
Services won its sixth Santosh Trophy title with a 1-0 victory over home side Punjab at the Guru Nanak Stadium.
With this victory, the side has ended the campaign without losing a single match.
Incidentally, the last time Services played in the Santosh Trophy final was in 2015, at the same venue and against the same opposition.
With hardly four days to go for election to the two Lok Sabha seats in Goa, the ruling BJP in Goa is struggling to retain the seats it won with big margins in 2014. By-elections to three Assembly seats are also being held on April 23 in the State. The biggest setback to the BJP is the leadership void in the government and the organisation following the death of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
BJP's Amritsar Candidate
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released list of five candidates, nominating Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri from Amritsar and renominating four of its MPs.
The BJP has an alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal in Punjab, and it will contest three out of 13 seats of Punjab.
Amritsar-born Puri is a diplomat-turned-politician was inducted as a minister for housing and urban affairs in the Narendra Modi government in September 2017. He later became a member of the Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh in January 2018.
The BJP also fielded Shankar Lalwani from Indore, replacing Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan, who opted out of the race after the party decided not to field any 75-plus leaders.
In Delhi, the party has fielded Harsh Vardhan from Chandni Chowk, Manoj Tiwari from North East Delhi, Pravesh Verma from West Delhi, Ramesh Bidhuri from South Delhi and Harinarayan Rajbhar from Ghosi.
Battleships from India and countries like Singapore and Australia arrived in eastern Chinese city of Qingdao on Sunday to take part in a maritime parade to mark the 70th anniversary of the People's Liberation Army Navy.
China is expected to display new warships, including nuclear submarines, destroyers, warplanes and the country's first aircraft carrier, at the parade in the Yellow Sea off the Qingdao coast.
