"KNOWING OUR CONSTITUTION"- THE PREAMBLE PREAMBLE refers to the introduction or preface of the Constitution. It contains the summary or the essance of the Constitution. Some important points to ponder- 1.- The Preamble begins with the words: ‘We the people of India’. These words testify to the fact that the people of India are’ the ultimate source of all authority. The Government derives its power from them. 2.- Preamble reveals the nature of state. It declares India ton be SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC. 3.- Preamble specifies the JUSTICE(social, economic and political ) LIBERTY(of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship) EQUALITY (civic, political and economic) and FRATERNITY as the objective of the Constitution. 4.-Date of Adoption and Enactment- NOVEMBER 26,1949 . 5.- It has been clarified by the Supreme Court of India that being a part of Constitution, the Preamble can be subjected to Constitutional Amendments exercised under article 368, however, the Basic Structure cannot be altered. 6.-The preamble has been amended only once so far. On 18 December 1976, during the Emergency in India, the Indira Gandhi government pushed through several changes in the Forty-second Amendment of the constitution. Hello Poonam. Cracking Civil Services requres endless effort and concentration, though it doesnt mean to keep studying 15 to 16 hours daily. You just need to be focused and consistent with studies. If you are thinking of CSE 2017, DO START PREPARING NOW. Analysing previous years questions would be the best way to start with and while analysing do note the changing tend of question pattern.
