The Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) has pointed to the high levels of pesticides in colas - both those of the MNCs and those manufactured indigenously. This has led to a demand for a ban on colas. But if we were to ban colas people would be forced to switch over to water, tea, cane juice and fruit juices - all of which contain more pesticides than cola.
Nevertheless I support CSE's case for imposing much stricter quality standards on colas because :
some people can tolerate pesticides in natural foods.
more people drink colas than the other drinks put together.
people expect colas to be pure.
it is possible to take pesticides out of colas but not out of natural products
