First International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir opens in Srinagar
The First International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK) 2026 opened in Srinagar at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) on 7 September 2026. The four-day festival, themed Rang-e-Cinema, is organized by the DIPR, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, in collaboration with the National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC). The event aims to showcase regional cinema, foster cultural exchange, and strengthen the region's link with the global film industry. Delegations from filmmakers, artists, and journalists attended, with screenings across multiple venues. Organisers emphasized training workshops, panel discussions on creative expression, and opportunities for aspiring artists from hill regions. Local audiences welcomed the festival as a platform for dialogue, tourism, and economic activity.

Vice-President releases stamp to mark Dinamalar's 75th anniversary
Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan released a commemorative postage stamp in Chennai to mark the 75th anniversary of the Tamil daily Dinamalar. The ceremony honoured the newspaper's journalism and public-service ethos, with notes on its coverage of civic issues and education-related content. The founder T. V. Ramasubbaiyer was remembered for shaping the newspaper and its Pattam educational supplement, which supports students and learning initiatives. The stamp release coincided with broader celebrations of Dinamalar's contributions to media, language heritage, and cultural dialogue in Tamil Nadu. The ceremony featured dignitaries who spoke about press freedom and regional journalism, and the stamp will be issued by India Post for nationwide access.
