Indian and Sri Lankan coast guards hold ninth high-level meeting

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) held their ninth High-Level Meeting in Mirissa, Sri Lanka, on 3 November 2026. Led by ICG Director General Paramesh Sivamani and SLCG Director General Rear Admiral Ruwan Rupasena, discussions covered Marine Pollution Response, Search and Rescue, and Maritime Law Enforcement. The two sides explored capacity-building and technical assistance to strengthen cooperation in the Indian Ocean Region. They reaffirmed a shared commitment to maritime safety, security and environmental protection across their waters, highlighting ongoing regional collaboration to manage contingencies and protect sea lanes.

Tiger Triumph 2026: US‑India joint exercise commences

The fifth edition of the Tiger Triumph bilateral exercise between the United States and India began in Visakhapatnam. The joint drill focuses on humanitarian assistance and disaster response, tabletop planning, and integrated multi‑domain command and control. The US Pacific Fleet announced the opening ceremony on 2 November, underscoring the two nations’ commitment to enhanced interoperability. Forces train side by side to improve crisis response across the region and demonstrate defence cooperation. The exercise also strengthens regional preparedness for natural disasters and other emergencies, reflecting broader defence collaboration between New Delhi and Washington.

India and Indonesia Conduct 11th Exercise Garuda Shakti 2026

The 11th edition of Exercise Garuda Shakti, a joint Special Forces military exercise between India and Indonesia, commenced on 27 October 2026 at Banyuwangi, Indonesia, and will continue until 6 November 2026. The Indian contingent comprises personnel from the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces), while Indonesia is represented by its Special Forces. The exercise emphasizes jungle warfare, combat marksmanship, obstacle crossing, mountaineering and air assault operations. It aims to enhance military cooperation, operational interoperability and bilateral defence relations between the two countries. Both sides will conduct training under strict safety protocols with observers present from both nations.

Location: Banyuwangi, Indonesia.

India and South Korea conduct IN-RoKN 2026 naval exercise

The second edition of Exercise IN-RoKN 2026, a bilateral naval drill between India and South Korea, was conducted in Busan during October 2026. The Indian Navy deployed INS Sahyadri, a indigenously built guided-missile stealth frigate, while South Korea deployed ROKS Munmu the Great. The exercise included harbour interactions, cross-training and coordinated maritime operations. Its primary objective was to strengthen naval cooperation, improve interoperability and promote peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. The inaugural edition was held in 2025, reflecting ongoing defence collaboration between the two nations and shared maritime security interests.

Goa Shipyard Launches INS Srishti for Indian Navy

Goa Shipyard Limited launched INS Srishti (Yard 1283) on 27 October 2026 at the Vaddem facility in Goa. The fourth Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessel will enhance maritime surveillance, anti-piracy operations, search and rescue, and humanitarian assistance. The Indian Navy’s Buy (Indian-IDDM) programme includes 11 vessels total, valued at about ₹9,781 crore, underscoring a push for Indigenous Defence Manufacturing. INS Srishti will strengthen coastal security and regional capabilities, complementing existing patrol fleets. The vessel’s introduction aligns with broader government aims to expand domestic shipbuilding, deepen supplier networks, and improve rapid-response capabilities across sea lanes.
