Bank of India Launches User-Level Programmable CBDC with Auto-Issuance

Bank of India announced the launch of User-Level Programmable Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) with Auto-Issuance on its digital rupee platform. The capability, developed with Montran India, follows guidelines from the Reserve Bank of India and the National Payments Corporation of India. It enables users to schedule recurring transfers of e₹ to a beneficiary’s CBDC wallet by specifying the amount and frequency, and also to define the purpose for which funds may be used. The feature aims to make digital money more programmable and suitable for targeted payments, such as allowances or subsidies. The rollout reflects India's advancing CBDC program and private–public technology collaboration in payments.

Uttarakhand installs first real-time GLOF warning system at Vasundhara Tal

Uttarakhand has begun installing its first real-time early-warning system at Vasundhara Tal in Chamoli district to monitor Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs). The lake lies among 13 high-risk glacial lakes identified by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in collaboration with technical institutions. The system will continuously track lake level, temperature, inflow, and other environmental changes, and will issue alerts if conditions indicate a possible flood threat. A joint team from the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee, and the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology is leading the installation and calibration effort. Officials say the project will strengthen disaster preparedness in the Himalayas amid rising temperatures and rapidly changing glaciers.

Delhi Udyog Mitra Portal launched for traders and MSMEs

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched the Delhi Udyog Mitra Portal on 28 September 2026. The digital platform acts as a single-window system to simplify access to government services for traders, entrepreneurs, MSMEs, start-ups, industrial units, and investors. Launched under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, the portal enables faster approvals and service delivery through a unified online channel. Officials say it will reduce regulatory bottlenecks, improve transparency, and shorten processing times. The initiative aims to boost investment, ease doing business in Delhi, and support economic growth by digitalising government interactions and consolidating multiple services on a single platform.

Livestock Insurance Portal 2026 launched in New Delhi

Livestock Insurance Portal 2026 was launched in New Delhi by Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh). Developed by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), the portal provides a digital platform for livestock insurance services. It will be available in Hindi, English, and 11 regional languages to broaden access. The portal aims to streamline policy management, claims processing, subsidies, and coverage for farmers and livestock owners. It forms part of India's digital governance initiative to improve agricultural risk protection, enhance transparency in subsidies, and promote inclusive insurance coverage for the livestock sector.

Madhya Pradesh launches new bid for public transport push

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the Mukhyamantri Sugam Parivahan Bus Service and PM e-Bus Sewa in Madhya Pradesh. The program restores state-run bus services after a 21-year gap and aims to improve public transport connectivity across urban and rural areas. A total of 351 buses will operate through a public-private partnership in seven cities. The launch occurred on the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya. Officials say the initiative will enhance mobility for residents, promote economic activity and contribute to cleaner air by expanding affordable, reliable transport options.

Patna, Bihar, inaugurated India’s first Victims Rights Centre at the Bihar State Legal Services Authority campus. The centre follows a victim-centric case management system and aims to help crime victims understand and exercise their legal rights at different stages of a case. It integrates legal assistance, psychological support and counselling under one roof, making the justice system more accessible for victims who may be unaware of available resources. The facility seeks to streamline processes, improve outcomes for victims and set a model for other states seeking coordinated victim services.

J. P. Nadda inaugurates Arogya Manthan 2026 in New Delhi

On 26 September 2026, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J. P. Nadda inaugurated Arogya Manthan 2026 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The event highlighted milestones in India's health sector, including eight years of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and five years of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM).
