Telangana Formation Day observed on 2 June; formation in 2014
Telangana Formation Day is celebrated on 2 June each year to mark the creation of Telangana as India's 29th state. Telangana officially came into existence on 2 June 2014, carved out of Andhra Pradesh through the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014. Parliament passed the Act in February 2014, and Hyderabad was designated as the joint capital for a transitional period. The formation followed a long regional movement for identity, development and water-resource governance. Since its creation, Telangana has emerged as a fast-growing state with strengths in information technology, agriculture and industry. The observance reflects the state's journey and its ongoing development priorities.
