78th Zomi National Day Celebrated in Manipur

Silchar–Sairang Passenger Train to Begin on 20 February 2026
The Silchar–Sairang passenger train service will commence on 20 February 2026, enhancing rail connectivity to Mizoram. Operated by Northeast Frontier Railway, the service number 55669/55670 runs between Silchar in Assam and Sairang near Aizawl. The five-day-a-week schedule in both directions aims to improve accessibility and reduce travel times for residents and traders. The forward service from Silchar to Sairang runs Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays; the return from Sairang to Silchar runs Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Officials say the new link strengthens transport ties in the Northeast and supports regional development. Northeast Frontier Railway said it would adjust timings if demand rises.
