Women, Peace and Security Index 2025/26 highlights stagnation

The Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Index 2025/26 assesses 181 countries on inclusion, justice and safety. The report shows global progress on women’s wellbeing stagnates or declines, with 676 million women facing conflict exposure in the past year—a 74 percent rise since 2010, according to the Georgetown Institute and PRIO. Nordic countries dominate the top ranks, led by Denmark with a score of 0.939, followed by Iceland and Norway. The United States and other high-income nations lag behind in some areas. The report highlights policy gaps and recommends investments in education, legal protection, and safety to accelerate improvement for women worldwide.

Manali Kshirsagar Becomes Nagpur University’s First Female Vice-Chancellor in 100 Years

Nagpur, 4 December 2025: Manali Makarand Kshirsagar has been appointed Nagpur University’s first female vice-chancellor since its establishment in 1923. The Governor of Maharashtra, Acharya Devvrat, announced the appointment. Kshirsagar holds a PhD in computer science and an MBA in finance and marketing. She previously served as Director‑Technical and Adviser at Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering. Her appointment signals a move toward inclusive leadership and modern governance in higher education. She is expected to advance research, digital learning, and governance reforms at the century‑old university.

IIM-Raipur Announces New Business Accelerator Programme with 100% Fee Sponsorship, Applications U...

  • Indian Institute of Management Raipur (IIM Raipur) has partnered with the National SC-ST Hub (NSSH) of the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, to launch a comprehensive Business Accelerator programme. Applications for the Business Accelerator programme are open until December 15, 2025, with the programme set to begin on January 17, 2026.
  • The initiative aims to empower existing and aspiring SC/ST entrepreneurs, start-ups, and small business owners by equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and support essential for scaling their ventures.
  • The new programme is designed to help participants move beyond survival and achieve sustainable, scalable growth. The programme follows a blended learning model that combines immersive on-campus sessions at IIM Raipur with engaging live online classes. It also offers 72 hours of structured instruction and 18 hours of dedicated mentoring by IIM Raipur faculty, industry leaders, and seasoned practitioners, ensuring a transformative and growth-driven learning experience for every participant.

Meghalaya CM Releases Rs. 130-crore Scholarship for 70,000 Students

  • Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma announced the release of the second and final instalment of the Umbrella Post Matric Scholarship, amounting to Rs. 130 crore, for nearly 70,000 students for the 2024-25 academic year.
  • The event took place at the district auditorium and was attended by Education Minister Lakhmen Rymbui, Commissioner and Secretary of Education Vijay Kumar Mantri, West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Vibhor Aggarwal, and Director of Higher and Technical Education Hazel D. B. Sangma.

The 9th Dubai Fitness Challenge Concludes

  • The ninth edition of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) concluded with the successful staging of Dubai Yoga 2025, a large-scale community yoga session held at Zabeel Park in the shadow of the Dubai Frame. Initiated by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai , the Dubai Fitness Challenge ran from November 1 to 30, 2025 under the directive to encourage residents and visitors to engage in 30 minutes of physical activity daily for 30 consecutive days.
