Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat Inaugurates 13th International Tourism Mart in Sikkim

  • Union Minister of Tourism and Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat inaugurated the 13th edition of the International Tourism Mart (ITM) for the North Eastern Region in Sikkim. The Ministry said that the four day event will showcase the tourism potential of the North Eastern Region. It also added that the event seeks to highlight the region's rich natural beauty, cultural diversity, and adventure tourism opportunities, while promoting sustainable and inclusive tourism development.
  • The Ministry also informed that the event will witness participation from across the globe, with representatives from over 19 countries, including Spain, Thailand, France, Russia, Germany, Vietnam and others.

Shailesh Chandra Becomes First Indian to Head Global Auto Body OICA

  • The Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobiles (OICA) has elected Shailesh Chandra, president of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (Siam) and managing director and chief executive officer of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, as its president for a term starting November 1, 2025. He succeeds John Bozzella, president and CEO of the Alliance for Automotive Innovation, USA. 
  • Chandra becomes the first Indian to head OICA, marking a significant milestone for India's presence in global automotive decision-making. "It is an honour to become the first OICA president from India, which highlights the organisation's global representation," he said. With the industry transitioning towards sustainable mobility and net-zero goals, he said OICA's role in acknowledging regional diversity will be crucial "as we collectively strive to make our vehicles more aspirational, safer and environmentally friendly."

  • Nobel Prize-winning American scientist James Watson, one of the co-discoverers of the structure of DNA, died aged 97.

  • Manika Vishwakarma, a 22-year-old from Rajasthan is representing India at the global Miss Universe 2025 pageant in Thailand. She earned the coveted Miss Universe India 2025 crown in August after an impressive competition and now carries the hopes of a billion people on the international stage.
  • The 74th Miss Universe competition will take place on November 21, 2025, at the Impact Challenger Hall in Pak Kret, Nonthaburi, Thailand. The current titleholder, Victoria Theilvig from Denmark, will pass her crown to the next Miss Universe, and Manika is among the top contenders aiming for the global title.
