Serena Williams received the 2025 Princess of Asturias Award for Sports in Oviedo, Spain.
Serena Williams accepted the Princess of Asturias Award from King Felipe VI, Queen Letizia, and Princess Leonor, the royal family of Spain.
Serena Williams retired from professional tennis at the 2022 US Open, after an emotional match against Ajla Tomljanović from Australia.

The James Dyson Award 2025

The James Dyson Award 2025 named its global winners — WaterSense and OnCue — two student-led inventions that address global challenges in sustainability and healthcare. Each winner receives Rs 31.5 lakh to further develop their innovations.
WaterSense, developed by Polish PhD candidate Filip Budny from the Warsaw University of Technology, won in the Sustainability category. The AI-powered device autonomously monitors water quality in real time, replacing the traditional, labour-intensive manual sampling process. By detecting pollutants early, it aims to prevent environmental damage and improve access to clean water — a major step forward as over 40% of the world's rivers and lakes remain severely polluted.
OnCue, created by Italian product designer Alessandra Galli, an alumna of Delft University of Technology, was named the Medical winner. The innovation is a smart keyboard designed for people living with Parkinson's disease. Unlike conventional assistive devices, OnCue integrates therapeutic visual and haptic cues that help manage tremors, freezing, and other motor symptoms, making typing smoother and more accessible.

The film "Manjummel Boys" completely dominated the 55th Kerala State Film Awards, winning various accolades including, Best Film, Best Director, and several technical awards. Its unique narrative and youthful energy made it the talk of the Kerala state film awards 2025 event.

Scindia Confers Bhupen Hazarika Awards Celebrating Northeast Icons

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, in his role as Minister for Communications and Development of the North Eastern Region, conferred the Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika National Awards at a cultural ceremony in Guwahati. Organised by Sarhad Pune, the event was a heartfelt tribute to Bhupen Hazarika's centenary year, honouring the music legend's legacy of unity through art.
The Dr. Bhupen Hazarika National Awards were conferred on six distinguished individuals from the North-eastern region, each of whom has made vital contributions to preserving and promoting the cultural, literary, and artistic heritage of the region.
The six recipients are:
Yeshe Dorjee Thongchi (Arunachal Pradesh): An acclaimed writer known for blending indigenous storytelling with contemporary themes.
Laishram Mema (Manipur): A leading literary figure preserving Manipuri language and traditions.
Rajni Basumatary (Assam): An actress and filmmaker whose work focuses on women's issues and rural narratives.
L. R. Sailo (Mizoram): A writer and translator promoting Mizo literature.
Dr. Surjya Kanta Hazarika (Assam): A scholar and cultural historian who has extensively chronicled Assam's literary evolution.
Prof. David R. Syiemlieh (Meghalaya): A historian and former UPSC chairman, known for his academic work on Northeast identity and history.
