India Builds World's Highest Motorable Road at 19,400 Ft in Ladakh

  • India has set a new benchmark in high-altitude infrastructure with the construction of the world's highest motorable road in eastern Ladakh. The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has laid a route across Mig La Pass at an altitude of 19,400 feet (5,913 metres), overtaking the agency's own record at Umling La. The road, part of the Likaru-Mig La-Fukche alignment, links the Hanle region with Fukche village near the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The feat was executed under Project Himank by a team led by Brigadier Vishal Srivastava. To mark the completion, the Indian national flag and the BRO flag were hoisted at the windswept pass.

A First, CRPF Gets Charge of Vice-President's Security

  • For the first time, the CRPF is handling the security of Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan, a responsibility it has taken over from the Delhi Police, which has been given the duty of only access control outside his residence.
  • As per reports, the CRPF is responsible for security inside the Vice-President's residence, which includes the main complex of his residence and the place of stay.
  • The Delhi Police, which earlier was in charge of the VVIP's residential complex, has been given the responsibility of access control, which includes the entry and exit gates and car passage clearance and the security outside the Vice-President's residence.
  • The CRPF was given this responsibility on the basis of threat inputs received by the Ministry of Home Affairs and after consulting with multiple agencies, added the sources.

Jitendra Singh Launches Curtain Raiser of Emerging Science, Technology & Innovation Conclave

  • Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, Jitendra Singh, launched the Curtain Raiser of the first-ever Emerging Science, Technology & Innovation Conclave (ESTIC-2025), themed 'Imagine. Innovate. Inspire for Viksit Bharat 2047'. The three-day conclave will be held from November 3 to 5, 2025, at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
  • "ESTIC-2025 is not just a conclave – it's a movement to position India as a global innovation hub. Our journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047 will be powered by young minds and frontier technologies," Singh said.

Bihar to Vote in Two Phases; Shortest Assembly Polls in over Two Decades

  • For the first time in at least two decades, Bihar will vote in just two phases – on November 6 and 11 – with the results to be announced on November 14. The Election Commission (EC) announced the much-awaited schedule, continuing its recent practice of shorter polling durations.
  • Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar said that there were many reasons for the shorter poll duration. "Voter awareness, availability of CAPFs (Central Armed Police Forces), the assessment of law and order and the enhancement in the capacity of the EC and its officials – looking at all these factors, it was felt appropriate to conduct the elections in two phases.
  • Over the past three Assembly elections, Bihar's polling schedule has steadily shortened, from six phases in 2010 to five in 2015 and three in 2020. In 2005, polling was held in four phases.

Mohilary Sworn in as Bodoland Territorial Council Chief

  • Bodoland People's Front (BPF) president Hagrama Mohilary was sworn in as the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) in Assam's Kokrajhar district.
  • Former minister Rihon Daimary was also sworn in as the deputy CEM at a function held at the Bodoland Secretariat Field.
  • Mohilary, who became the CEM for the fourth time, took the oath of office and secrecy, administered by Chief Secretary Ravi Kota, in English, while Daimary took it in the Bodo language.
  • The Bodoland Peoples' Front (BPF) swept the BTC polls, winning 28 of the 40 seats. The United Peoples Party Liberal (UPPL) and the BJP, alliance partners in the outgoing BTC, finished with seven and five seats respectively.
  • BTC is an autonomous council for the Bodoland Territorial Region comprising five districts — Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa and Udalguri and Tamulpur.

CM to Inaugurates Katpadi's First Government Hospital

  • Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will virtually inaugurate the first full-fledged 60 bed-Government Taluk Hospital at Serkadu village in Katpadi, Vellore, on October 6. 
  • Officials of the Public Works Department (PWD), which executed the multi-crore project, said that the new government hospital has modern health facilities, including ECG, CT scan, and surgery theatres.

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy Launches Pan-India E-Waste Recycling Drive

  • Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy launched a Pan-India E-waste recycling drive under the Special Campaign 5.0. The campaign will run till the 31st of this month. The Ministry of Mines said that the e-waste collection drive aims to systematically dispose of unserviceable computers, laptops, printers, LED displays, mobile phones, and other obsolete electronic equipment that have accumulated over time. It added that this initiative will support the objectives of the National Critical Minerals Mission by reducing import dependency and strengthening India's clean energy transition.

Union Home Minister Inaugurates and Lays Foundation Stone for Rs. 825 Crore Development Projects ...

  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in October 2025, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various development projects worth approximately 825 crore rupees in Kurukshetra. These included the foundation stone laying of 11 projects, including five nursing colleges, 84 residences at Jind Police Line, the inauguration of the Pediatric Rest House in Narnaul, and the 300-bed Assandh Sub-Divisional Hospital. Chief Minister Nayab Singh, Kurukshetra MP Naveen Jindal, and Cabinet Minister Anil Vij, along with several other ministers, were also present. On this occasion, Shah praised the Haryana government for working with the Spirit of Service for Good Governance.
