Tamil Nadu Government Launches New Mini-Bus Scheme
The Tamil Nadu government launched its much-anticipated comprehensive mini-bus scheme, aiming to enhance last-mile connectivity across the state significantly.
Chief Minister M. K. Stalin officially flag off the scheme in Thanjavur, while Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin inaugurated services in Theni. Health Minister Ma. Subramanian launched the services in Chennai, with other cabinet ministers overseeing rollouts in various districts.
The revamped scheme allows for the operation of private mini-bus services within the Greater Chennai Corporation limits -- excluding the core city zones -- for the first time.

In a First, Centre Caps MGNREGS Spend at 60% for First Six Months of FY 2025-26
For the first time, the government capped spending under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) at 60 per cent of its annual allocation for the first half of the financial year 2025–26. Until now, the rural jobs guarantee scheme has operated as a demand-driven programme with no such spending limit.
The Ministry of Finance informed the Ministry of Rural Development that it will now be brought under the Monthly/Quarterly Expenditure Plan (MEP/QEP), a spending control mechanism from which it had been exempt so far.

Himachal Pradesh Launches Rajiv Gandhi Van Samvardhan Yojana
In a push for environmental conservation and community empowerment, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu launched the Rajiv Gandhi Van Samvardhan Yojana from Hamirpur. The scheme aims to increase the state's green cover by planting fruit-bearing trees on degraded forest lands while promoting employment generation and community involvement through Mahila Mandals, Yuvak Mandals, and self-help groups (SHGs).

Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan' Launched at OUAT, Bhubaneswar
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the "Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA)" on Thursday.
The goal of this campaign is to transform Indian farming with the help of science and technology.
It was launched in Sakshigopal, Puri and later at the ICAR-CIFA centre in Bhubaneswar.
The VKSA campaign aims to make India the "food basket of the world."
It focuses on connecting scientists directly with farmers, so they can share better farming methods.
This supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi's idea of taking science from "Lab to Land" and building a Developed India.
