Ex-Union Minister Girija Vyas Dies

  • Veteran Congress leader and former Union Minister Girija Vyas died in Ahmedabad. She was 79.
  • Vyas was a prominent Congress leader who served as a minister in both the state and central government. She was also the Pradesh Congress Committee chief. She also served as the chairperson of the National Commission for Women.
  • In 2013, she was appointed Minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation in the Manmohan Singh government.
