Government of India Announces Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar 2025

  • Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar 2025, the nation's highest recognition for outstanding and inspiring contributions by scientists, technologists, and innovators in diverse fields of science, technology, and technology-led innovation, was announced.
  • The Government of India instituted to recognise and promote pathbreaking research and inspiring achievement, the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar is conferred under four categories:
  • Vigyan Ratna (VR) award will recognise lifetime achievements & contributions made in any field of science and technology.
  • Vigyan Shri (VS) award will recognise distinguished contributions in any field of science and technology.
  • Vigyan Yuva-Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar (VY-SSB) award will recognize & encourage young scientists up to the age of 45 years who have made an exceptional contribution in any field of science and technology.
  • Vigyan Team (VT) award to be given to a team comprising three or more scientists/researchers/innovators who have made an exceptional contribution working in a team in any field of science and technology.

  • L&T Finance Ltd. (LTF), formerly known as L&T Finance Holdings Limited, was conferred with the 'Best Digital Experience in Finance' Award at the fourth edition of the Global Fintech Awards held at the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2025. Masako Nozawa Becomes First Voice Actor Honoured by Japan

  • In a landmark moment for the anime and entertainment industry, Masako Nozawa, the legendary voice behind Son Goku from the Dragon Ball franchise, was selected as one of the 2025 Persons of Cultural Merit honourees in Japan. This makes her the first voice actor ever to receive this prestigious cultural award, marking a turning point in the recognition of voice acting as an integral part of Japanese culture.

Singer Sam Fender Wins Mercury Prize for Album 'People Watching'

  • Sam Fender won the Mercury Prize for his third album "People Watching", beating the likes of band Pulp and singer FKA Twigs for the British music award.
  • Fender was previously nominated in 2022 for his second album "Seventeen Going Under".

Kaziranga Director Sonali Ghosh Wins Global Sustainability Award

  • Sonali Ghosh, field director at Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, became the first Indian to win the prestigious World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA)–Kenton Miller Award for innovation in national parks and protected area sustainability. The honour was conferred at the IUCN World Conservation Congress held in Abu Dhabi.
  • The award is named after Dr Kenton R Miller, former director general of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Besides Ghosh, 14 conservation leaders were also recognised.
