Ex-Gujarat CM Rupani, Dies in Plane Crash

Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who was on the Air India flight that crashed in Ahmedabad, died. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft bound for London crashed after taking-off near Ahmedabad airport.
Rupani served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat from August 2016 to September 2021, before resigning ahead of the 2022 state elections.
Vijay Rupani is the second politician who served as the Gujarat CM who died in an air accident, sixty years after Balwantrai Mehta's death in a 1965 plane crash.

Eminent Scholar and Author Daji Panshika Passes Away

Renowned scholar, author, and literary commentator Daji Panshikar, also known as Narahari Vishnu Shastri, passed away at the age of 92. An authority on Indian epics such as the Mahabharata, Eknaathi Bhagwat, and Bhavarth Ramayan, Panshikar played a pivotal role in enriching Marathi literature and cultural discourse. He was also a guiding light in Maharashtra's theatre community through his association with Natyasampada Natya Sanstha.

PM Narendra Modi Pays Tribute to Birsa Munda

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to legendary tribal leader and freedom fighter Bhagwan Birsa Munda on his 125th death anniversary, also known as 'Balidan Diwas', calling his life a symbol of courage, sacrifice, and commitment to tribal welfare and national pride.
Birsa Munda, born on November 15, 1875, in Ulihatu village – now in Jharkhand – emerged as a formidable force against British colonial rule in the late 19th century.
Known as 'Dharti Aaba' or the 'Father of the Earth' by tribal communities, Birsa Munda laid down his life for the cause of Indigenous empowerment and resistance to colonial oppression.
He passed away at the young age of 25 in British custody but left behind a legacy of resistance that continues to inspire tribal and non-tribal Indians alike.
