India Debuts at WorldSkills Asia 2025 with 23-Member Contingent

  • For the first time, India officially joined the WorldSkills Asia Competition, a prestigious skills championship that brings together the best young professionals from across the continent. A 23-member Indian contingent is participating in the event, taking place in Chinese Taipei. This debut marks a major milestone in India's mission to become the "Skill Capital of the World", aligning with the government's push to enhance global competitiveness through vocational excellence.
  • Taipei is hosting the 3rd WorldSkills Asia Competition from November 27 to 29, 2025 at Nangang Exhibition Centre.
  • The WorldSkills Asia competition is held every two years, in one of the member countries, to showcase the best of vocational skills in Asia.

Sangai Festival 2025 in Manipur

  • Manipur's Sangai Festival, the state's biggest cultural event, opened in Imphal. The ten-day festival, which will run till November 30, is named after the rare Sangai deer.
  • The festival showcases Manipur's traditions, handloom, food, indigenous sports, and local crafts. Every year, it brings together more than 35 tribes and communities.
  • This year's edition includes events across multiple venues under the theme 'Where blossoms breathe harmony'.
  • Manipur governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla inaugurated the 10-day festival at the Bhagya Chandra Open Air Theatre in Imphal.
  • Named after the rare Sangai deer found only in Manipur, the festival has grown since 2010 into a major platform to showcase the state's heritage.
  • The aim of the festival is to bring more domestic and international tourists to the state by highlighting Manipur's diverse cultures and landscapes. It gives local artisans, weavers, farmers, and entrepreneurs a chance to display their work and find new markets.

The 10th International Gita Festival

  • The 10th edition of the International Gita Festival opened in Kurukshetra, marking the start of a three-week spiritual and cultural celebration. The annual event draws devotees, scholars and visitors from India and abroad, highlighting the global reverence for the Bhagavad Gita and the historic significance of Kurukshetra.
  • The festival runs from November 15 to December 5, featuring large-scale cultural, spiritual and educational activities.
  • Since its inception in 2016, the International Gita Mahotsav has expanded each year, with celebrations also held in countries such as Mauritius, Britain, Canada, Australia, Sri Lanka and Japan.
